I have been spraying the deck floors .the last two jobs have been with Olympic semi-transparent cedar the decks are 3 to 7 years old. I went back to do a follow-up and requested to my customer to let me add a second coat to the floor .
These stains that claim to be one coat application does that just go out the window with seasoned decks or do I just need to heavy up with my first coat ????
thanks guys

Shane,
I wouldn't make it one heavy coat, two thin coats would be better. I use Ready Seal, and like Chris Detter said, I also apply two thin coats to the horizontal surfaces.

With a penetrating sealer like Ready Seal, some decks will take more sealer then others. Cedar decks take more then Pressure Treated......and any deck that has not been sealed for a while is going to be extra thirsty for sealer. Bid accordingly.
