Hi Barry, Welcome to our world of wood restoration,

Yes , we at Sun Brite do require all customers to give us a deposit, we get 1/3 of the job up front, we tell them that when we receive the deposit , we then schedule there work. Now these can be a touchy area, especially for those who are new in the business, no passed references, work history etc, so if your customers balks at giving you a deposit, don't get discouraged.

good luck Chris Detter

Like Chris said, money up front would probably be hard for you to get. What you can do, however, is require 50% of the money at the time the deck is cleaned. This gives you increased cash flow, allows you to buy the sealer you need, and gives you some money in your pocket in case it rains for a week straight and you can't seal.

Hi Barry,

We also require deposits, 20% down for scheduling with the balance due on completion. We haven't had a complaint yet with these figures.
