Pumping from a pond

I am trying to get a contact to restore and maintan several wooden walkways and a bridge over water at a golf course. There is no water supply there except the ponds the walkways cross. I was thinking of pumping from the ponds with a small gas pump to supply my washer, with some type of filter along the line before the washer. I dont want to ruin a pressure washer pump doing this. Has anyone tryed this, and what do you suggest. Thanks Roy
