Is This Spamming?

Yesterday I had an idea to get a real estate guide the one with the realtors and their house listings. I e-mailed them with a few lines short of a sales pitch, what I like to know does this fall under spamming?

It's basically internet junkmail. Advertising where not asked or welcome.

Have you ever went to a website and when you closed it you got like 50 other sites in a row and closed and closed and closed and you couldn't get the darn things off of your screen? I call that SPAMMING!

Well, I for one hope that what you did was not considered spamming cuz I just did the same thing - and not done yet!

I downloaded about 400 real estate agents e-mail addresses from various local offices. So far, since Monday 2/26, I have gotten 5 replies out of about 100 "e-mailings"! I included pre-spring discounts and pictures of jobs I had done last fall. Out of the 5, 3 asked for brochures to share with thier clients and co-workers, 2 asked for estimates - 1 of which is now a closed sale!

It was easy to do, cost nothing but a little time and the reply responses from the agents have been very positive - almost excited!

What's more is that I think the use of the computer and internet shows that you are somewhat professional/technical/educated etc, especially if your letters and flyers are well written. The best part is that you can place your e-mail address in the message somewhere and it turns into an instant hotlink back to you - now you are just a click away! For busy agents, this is a time saver and may be able to pull more responses - they don't have to look for a phone or find your number or get into a personal converstation that could get lengthy.

I will also be trying to do some of this with the typical residential customer by finding the e-mail address to properties I see need my cleaning. I prefer doing this so that my efforts are focused on those that I know could use my service.

One last tip, since junk mail is so prevelant, include your homwtown in the subject line - I think that may help them to take a closer look and personalize the message a bit and thay might not think you are spamming them buy sending junk messages from Brazil - as many do!

I tried that last year, sent out over 300 and not one call.

I would not waste my time doing it again. I feel a better way would to go to each office and leave your brouchers and cards.

I did some of that too but realtors are not very interested in your services unless they have a pig pen of a house. That is my experience and that was before I said no more doing residential work.

Commercial/industrial is my game plan now. less hassle as far as I am concerned.

But if it works for you go for it.
