Mr. Wizzard,
Do people really use auto mufflers on a 16hp Briggs? if they do do they work well? does a briggs need backpressure to work well, because an auto muffler would probabily have little back pressure for such a little engine. I'm asking you cause as my kids say "U da man"

Most of your carpet cleaners use automotive type mufflers without any problem. Being a four cycle engine you do not need any back pressure. I have a local muffler shop build exhaust systems for me and does an excellent job. He removes the factory muffler on the B&S twins and attaches directly to the header pipe. It usually cost arounf $100 for a nice system. Briggs also makes low tone kits which work well. If you want I can get you the part# and the price. I would need the Model#, Type# and Serial#. Also would need to know what postion you want it to exit. Lower left or upper left or right?
