landa machine 5 @ 3000....

changed oil, air, and gas filter the other day .
now im not sure but i think my gas filter is to small this is what it is doing..
i only have 2200 psi....maybe it's the unloader?
when im running the machine and go to shut it down it shuts down like right now ..and then BANG.....it gives one heck of a back fire.. i always turn my heater off and run the machine 3-4 mins. before i shut down.

when i have the gun/lanse un hooked from the hose and fire up the p/wer then shut down it don't do the back fire thing......it's only under pressure.

so what do ya think?

Does your unloader look like this?

Those type of unloaders have a shorter life and will cause the problem you discribed in your post. Alot of times you will find a piece of oring stuck inside of it that will make it act up. If you open it up be carefull not to loose the ball or spring inside.

I was waiting for Wiz to answer ya,, I wasn'nt really sure but Yeah it's more than likely the unloader. You can do a little test to find out.

1.Remove the unloader

2.Screw in a plug where the bypass line went into the side of the pump so as to stop flow.

3.Attach a pressure hose (a short one if you got it, it's easier) directly to where the unloader was

4.Attach a gun with a "good" tip for your rated pressure and flow with a pressure gauge between the gun and the hose so you can monitor the pressure

VERY IMPORTANT HERE IF YOU AREN'T SURE OF EXACTLY WHAT IM SAYING DON'T DO IT!!!!!

5.Tie the gun open so as it cannot shut off on you-if you do this test and the gun shuts off while under pressure it will blow out your packings since the unloader is not there and you'll be rebuilding your pump!

6.Now with the gun open (water flowing through it) start the machine, read the pressure then turn the machine off while the water is still flowing through it.

If the pressure is still 2200 then it's not the unloader, if the pressure is up then you problay need a new unloader.

And just to make sure Lets get Wiz's approval for this before you do it, just incase I'm missing something here!!!

I do this all the time! It;s really no big deal you just cannot let the flow stop, how do I know this, well,,,,,,oops

I'm not sure about the backfire, i figured mabye it would relate to the low pressure of the machine. My machines will always backfire if you release trigger right as you turn the machine off,,just figue their may be an assoication there??

Mabye??
