Hey Wiz,
I've got a Dayton electric motor 1 1/2 hp, 1725 rpm and an AR pump 4.5 gpm 3500psi 1750 rpm. The question is can I hook the two up directly or do I need to use a belt and pulley to up the gear ratio to get the right rpm's for the pump?
Thanks
Richard

The RPM matches up but the Hp is too small. Here is the formula: GPM x PSI / 1460 = Electric Horse Power Required to drive that pump.
For Gas use: GPM x PSI / 1100 = Gasoline Horse Power
As far as direct coupling that is okay but you will burn up that motor in two seconds.

It is good for 3 GPM at 1000 PSI Max
