Why.... ???

Has anyone else noticed that there are a lot of misplaced topics on other boards in this BBS system?

It seems to me that there are a few straying topics.

Dan did set this up to help give each topic their own place here.

Does anyone else think that by posting in the wronge place it shows disrespect to Dan and his investment into this system that we all are enjoying?

aran,

I believe there are a lot of topics that stray from the original post and many times think I should also post the information elsewhere. I do believe the original post needs to remain where they started. Since I’m not a moderator and do not wish or have the desire to be one. I cannot judge whether you should move things around or not. As far as disrespect for Dan’s board. I think that’s way off base, I believe these are good folks just trying to learn from others. If we post something in the wrong place oh well, we have six or seven moderators to keep it clean. We gotta give you something too do don’t we? Now let’s say you asked my opinion, do I think topics can overlap each other? Yes.

I think Dan expects every person to do his best at posting in the right place and there is always going to be a stinker that screws things up.

Give me a couple examples, send it by e-mail if you don’t want to offend anyone. Maybe I’m posting in the wrong places and don’t realize it. Let me have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Am.

Ron and Aran, both of you have taken up a subject that needs to be covered more.

I have an idea for Dan, sure the Moderators can move post around, delete or censor them and some do.

Perhaps this might be hard to do but what if one person was in charge of checking post and moving them to their proper place.

No censoring, deleting or whatnot. This person would not in the true sense be a Moderator but simply hmm, say something like an Editor or umm, dang can't think of the word however I am sure all know what I am trying to say.

Now as for Aran sending you Email and dumping on you, I see nothing out of line from you that would cause him to do that.

Cody might since you two have a hate/friend type relationship, NO NOT THAT KIND

Guys,

I don't see the need to have one person responsible for that. It is simply the responsibility of the moderator of that board to move it elsewhere. On occasion, I have moved topics off of the power washing board............example..........equip questions moved to the Wiz's board.........or, the political debates I moved to this board....

Like someone above mentioned, sometimes the post strays away from the original topic....(like the post on the deck board that talks about yellow page ads...)
I don't see a problem with that............as long as the original topic was appropiate.

Happy New Year!

Mike,

Hit it on the head. No reason for anyone to get mad about it. If you see something that is way off from the board move it. There is never a reason to delete it. I will handle that if at all. Just try to keep things as organized as we can. I have not moved many because the redirect thing is not working properly. When things are moved the frame shows up real big in the forum it is moved. When I get time I will fix it. Also if you guys move things, close it in the forum it started in and move it to the new one.

Maybe the "drifting" posts could be copied and dual-posted between two boards. In addition, maybe they could be "edited" by the addition of a line that points out what other board offers information pertaining to that subject.

Hey! I'm JUST Shooting the Bull!

...as far as Rons response to Cody

This is not a suggestion!

Just an observation.
