auto waste water

I talked to my local stormwater department and theyt advised i had to clean up my waste water if i detail in a parking lot. They advised i could use sand bags around the drain and then clean up the water with a shop vac. Does anyone have any ideas or ways that you clean up water? thanks!

this is what we used one time, it worked great and it was cheap to make. we used a 6" layflat hose, we figured where the low area where the water would go, we layed the hose out and plugged one end, filled it with water and plugged the fill end, this made the dam. we bought a sump pump from home depot for around $150.00, and pumped the water to a holding tank to be hauled off. when you are done, drain the clean water out of the hose and roll it up.
if the water is going to a storm drain, there is bladders, covers etc available to stop the water and then do the same thing with a sump pump.
