    HELP!!! W/Sodium Hydroxide Stains.

Paul, Obtain an aluminum brightener from a chemical supplier - I don't think any longer available from Delco - ask about chem concentration and dwell time. We apply chems with a diaphram pump, but I suppose you could use a pump-up. Be careful with this stuff - goggles, respirator, eyewash...

    HELP!!! W/Sodium Hydroxide Stains.

Paul, Your question indicates you need an immediate REMEDY, not just prevention. To remove streaking and discoloration you probably need an aluminum brightener. Go to Delco's board, access Kitchen Exhaust Cleaners, and look at the 'damaged aluminum' post dated Jan 11, 02. Worked for me. Richard

    Rain...

John, We like the snow. 8" of snow on exposed machine will simply blow off on the way to job site, as opposed to rain which will freeze and wreak havoc. In addition, our major thrust is greasebusting - and snow covers a multitude of sins. Snow absorbs emulsified grease and lessens the...

    Rain...

Our experience is somewhat different. Machines remain uncovered outside and they must fend for themselves - they suck up rain, snow, sleet, hail, dew, and all other forms of precipitation. I understand that enough accumulated moisture can burn out the igniter, but we use machines frequently...

    anti freeze ?

Roger, It amazes me that someone from Dallas knows so much about anit-freeze! In respect to windshield washer fluid it is pre-diluted therefore I don't think you would want to dilute it further - ditto for RV fluid. Also I have discovered that an auto anti-freeze testing device does not work...

    anti freeze ?

Roger, Thanks much for your input on the windchill factor. Makes sense to me - after all an inantimate object has no core temp to siphon off. Still, I was unsure - thanks. It occurs to me that driving in Colorado has special concerns. I am told that if one were to take a giant iron and...

    anti freeze ?

Harlyn has an interesting method, but too complex for a dud like me. I have not found the 'funnel' mode to be time-consuming. I timed it this AM. Disconnect the supply line: attach the funnel hose (the funnel & hose is affixed next to the machine); pour anti-freeze into funnel and turn on...

    anti freeze ?

Bigboy, Thanks for your post, but it is non-responsive to my observations. Probably you intended to answer 'ghouchu'. Your method of cutting off the supply hose and sticking it in a bucket (pretty funny!) actually would work in some applications, but would be ill-advised for others. For...

    anti freeze ?

RV antifreeze is pre-diluted, whereas auto antifreeze is undiluted and one should use 50/50 mix, thus is less costly. After a few 'captures' and re-use we then use straight antifreeze to bring the mix back to approx 50/50. I like the non-toxic aspect with one exception. Recently I got the...

    Cold night

David, no response - still wondering - per previous question - do you tip improperly wired upblast fans? Richard

    Cold night

Dominic, since our exchanges I have asked about and I stand corrected. My friend told me he has had fan freezup when job was accomplished without thought given to this possibility. Apparently his guys finished the roof and took some time off, then came back and finished the hood/plenum, thus...

    Cold night

Yes indeed I know Lewiston. Home of the late Elmer Keith I think. I remember when highway 12 over to Lolo Pass was a dirt road. At one time I lived north of Coeur d'Alene. Can't help but snicker at mention of "time to go hunting". Back then one could hunt at any time. Bears were considered...

    Cold night

Yep, I take my wiper fluid straight - however I like auto antifreeze better. It is easier to see at night. The wiper fluid can be obtained at any 7-11 or other store and is a good backup. Used to hunt a lot - many years ago. My kids were raised on elk and bear meat. Lived on the edge of...

    Cold night

David, apparently you operate in highly-regulated Calif and possibly you would not see the kind of owner-installed equipment we occasionally find. We have several on which the 'shroud' (properly the 'upper/lower discharge apron') is in 2 parts joined in the middle. We release a few of the...
