My Trusty 1996 Honda 18HP @ 8 GPM

Hello Ladies & gents,

I have taken out my Trusty 1996 Honda 18HP @ 8 GPM machine after
13 years of storage. It has 117 Hours on it. I squirted Fogging Oil in the 2 cylinders
and turned it over before I stored it.

I had the pump rebuilt, I soaked the carb and cleaned it out w/air.

Started up like a champ.

Blowing some smoke from the Fogging oil, it will burn off after a good run.

I installed a new K7 Unload er on the rig and it would not build up any pressure.
I tried to adjust it and nothing happened.

Tomorrow I will install the original K7 back in there and see what gives.

These Valves don't have any Model Mumber Markings on them, is it possible when I bought the new unit they sent me one for a smaller GPM rating, and this is why it will not build up pressure?
2.1-2.9 GPM
2.9-4.2 GPM
4.2-6.6 GPM
6.6-10.8 GPM - this is the one I need.

I also installed a EZ Start valve (I did not have one before)
And the Safety Pressure Relief Valve is new.

When the machine was running for a few minutes the pressure was low, maybe 50-100 lbs. max and both the EZ Start & Safety Pressure Relief Valve were shooting water out every now and then. I had the EZ Start plumbed to the left/top of the pump head looking at it on the Out side of the unload er. On the right side top of the pump I have the Safety Pressure Relief Valve. So the EZ Start Valve is on a "Tee" with the Pressure hose connect on one side and the EZ Start on the other.

on the bottom of the Pump to the right it is Plugged closed.
On the left side bottom is my 1 .25" Water line feed. I also have a pressure gauge on the unload er.

I use a 55 Gallon White Plastic Water Drum for a water feed with a 4' foot 1.25" ID Suction Hose Feed, it worked well years ago. I also have the Bypass line hooked up to a return line to the 55 Gallon Drum with a 4' foot hose and 3/8" Quick Disconnects.

So I will try the original unload er tomorrow as it was adjusted to the machine before.
This time I will not install the EZ Start Valve and I will see how it works.

All the Oils have been changed, Royal Purple Gear oil and Pump oil in the pump, all levels are correct.

I use 65/10 size tips for cleaning, they work well.

Any advice would be mighty kind,
Thanks, Russ

Here are some photos of my Rig, I got it fired-up today and it runs great. No smoke after 10 minutes. I got 3000 Lbs. at 8 GPM using a 65/10 Tip, makes quick work out of cleaning.

It's a Hypro Pump and they are owned by Pentair now. I sent the pump to Pentair and the gent did a great job rebuilding the pump for me.

I like the battery under the frame like this, it makes a strong/portable Rig in a small package. Much better than hauling a trailer around. I bought it new in 1996 and I take good care of my equipment. All my friends want to buy this one, and it's not for sale.

This is the 65/10 Spray Tip (Meg) Stainless Steel, it makes about a full 12" wide cleaning action fan spray, just perfect if the mold comes off easy and a stronger tip is not needed. I use a 65/12 at the end for the Final Rinse and it sweeps like a broom.

Thanks Mark,

I realized it was bad and since changed it back to the old, original K7. The new K7 was different than the old unit from 1996.

I will take a photo of the old unit in the pump now.

I would think they would be identical, but they are not.

I removed the Ez Start unit and just have the HP Connect on that side now.

The pressure relief valve was not tightened up by the allen hex inside the sleeve,
so I tighten ed up the allen.

Now the machine is pumping 2950 on full throttle.

All the fogging oil burned out the cylinders in 10 minutes of running, and it's finally working like new again.

Mark,

I have a Turbo Nozzle that is a black rubber covered unit made in Italy, and it's the 8 GPM unit for my pump, all it has for a ID mark on it is the PAT #, I will take a photo of it and maybe you can tell me what kind it is?

And do you know of any web-site areas that has photos of pump plumbing photos?

Thanks, Russ

Thanks,Russ

mark,

Here is how the original K7 is installed now. Do you happen to know what brand and model this Turbo Nozzle is? Made in Italy, the Numbers after PAT is 08006AAAU1

The Red "A" actually looks like a reversed 4 , and not an actual A. All the letters are stamped in the Brass perfect so I don't believe it is a mis-stamped A letter. It very well could be though as it must be hard to stamp in a circle like that with automation machinery.

This Turbo Nozzle has a twisting adjustment on it near the fattest part of the rubber. It twist around.

I remember when I bought this it was an expensive one, not the most expensive, but not the cheapest.

:confused:OK

Now I see what you are doing the quick coupler on the bypass port, I assume
is for a bypass hose and the quick coupler plug on the unloader outlet runs to
a pressure hose then to your gone.................

I was assuming when I saw the quick coupler socket on bypass, that you were
connecting that to your HP hose and gun...............:).........

Thanks Mark,

I should have put up a photo of the Rig hooked-up.

I use a Bypass return to the Tank and it works well.

I finally got my rig working well now.

There are a few local Pressure Cleaning Shops here that build machines, one called
J&N Equipment. And they have some custom Rigs they make here, I posted the site in case you have never seen it. Sometimes they have some new surface cleaners etc. Airless Paint Sprayers Airless Paint Sprayer HVLP Paint Sprayer HVLP Paint Sprayers Paint Sprayer
