Hi Everyone
We recently completed a sealing job using seal n lock, we did rinse the sprayer with bi carb and pine sol but the nozzle and bottom of sprayer still have sealant eesidue on them. Do we need to use a stripper to remove this now that it has dried? If so, can anyone recommend one to use.
Thanks

I soak my epoxy coated spray guns for tubs in a product Sherwin Williams sells called Gun Stripper. Most stores aren't aware of it, but if you ask them to search Gun Cleaning products in their database it will come up. YOu can also order it from Hawk Laboratories. They specilaize in tub refinishing products and their gun cleaner is same mix as SW's. 24 hours and it cleans a months worth of epoxy strength coatings off clean. Wipe down with acetone. The cleaner leaves an oily residue. There is also a product from Klean Strip called "Naked Gun". IT's what I use after each use to spray down my guns. It's a mix of Acetone, Xylene and some other solvents. Cuts most everything.

I know that Seal N Lock recommends cleaning out sprayers with Baking Soda.

I for one use water and plenty of it to clean out the pump up's. After about 3 or 4 times using them on different jobs I just toss them and buy a new one.

You just use a regular pump sprayer i take it? Is there a certain brand you use. We bought one from ace hardware but the nozzle seemed to get plugged up halfway through our first job, we cleaned everything as directed but it still isn't spraying as it should. Thinking about getting the sprayer seal n lock sell, the one that fits on the sealant pail but will the nozzle do the same again.
Great pics on facebook by the way, will have to post our seal n lock jobs for Naples, customers so happy with their pool deck they now want their driveway sealing as well.
I know I have asked this before but have you resealed pavers using seal n lock on top of a solvent based sealer without any problems (as long as the current sealer has not failed obviously)

I just use a regular pump up from Home Depot for smaller jobs and the devlan spryaer from Seal N Lock for bigger jobs. After I use them I rinse, rinse and rinse with water. Baking Soda helps also and is recommended by Rich at Seal N Lock

Yes, you can use Seal N Lock over existing sealant as long as the existing sealant has not failed.

Stay tuned for early part of 2012 for some major news that involves my company and Seal N Lock.......

I just found that Valvoline has a spray choke/carb cleaner that contains Acetone and Xylene which cleans just as well as the more expensive stuff from SW. I found it at my local auto parts store. It sounds like you guys may not need a solvent cleaner but a water based one??

Its best to build the $30 into the price of the job and scrap it afterwards. Not the most ecologically sound practice but with the price of spirits and the labor involved in cleaning (with results you may not like) its really not worth going through the hassle and expense of cleaning.
