    I need some new equipment.

Hi folks, I am looking for a new pressure washer skid unit, primarily for deck restoration, but will be used for house washes and some concrete cleaning. I am looking for a 5.5 gpm with at least 3000 psi. Anyone have a favorite place to get stuff?, that will maybe custom make me one? So far the...

    How to charge

You should research your area and see how much other contractors are charging. That should be your base number to start with. When I first started, I charged the low end, until I got a few decks under my belt and knew what was up. After a while you will get a chance to see how other companies...

What is the minimum amout of water to carry?

If you are doing commercial, then get the tank that will last as long as you want to wash. You can probably fill up at most places, but not all. And sometimes you will be too far from the water source and have to keep running out and filling up (downtime). The bigger the better. You would only...

    oxalic application

Hey Tim, If you are using a shurflo to apply a brighter, make sure you move the hose and don't keep it one spot or you will see hose marks, where the acid stays wet, you can see like a very bright spot almost like you can see into the wood.

    Opinions on Bleach...

Quote from Jim Bilyeu If your only getting 10 to 15 years life out of a deck, somthing is wrong. Maby your seeing the effects of using bleach and just not knowing it. Bleach speeds up the degrading process, not blow it up. I just happened to be looking at this website last night it is...

    Business stinks!

One of my mistakes is providing too TOO MUCH information to the customer. I always leave a FAQ with the estimate...on a normal year it would get me business, but when it is a damp, miserable spring, sealing a deck that isn't completely dry is out of the question...and I did try it a few times...

    Cleaning a Stained Deck

You can use the wolman cleaner and it will do a good job, The only problem is you will have spots that the sealer will wash away. A light recoat will probably be needed. You probably should prepare the customer for that. You will most likely only need to recoat the floor which is a piece of cake.

    Business stinks!

Ron I have $300 worth of tarps sitting in my big truck. It is alot easier said than done. After the fifth or sixth time of getting to the job and finding the tarp either blown away or the weight of the rain pulls the bungees in. Oh yeah have YOU ever tried to get a tarp full of water off a deck...

John T, I understand completely. 27 is the number I had crossed off my list, there was alot more work I turned down because I was sick of going back and recleaning decks, that were already done, because it rained for ten days straight!
