Sometimes the customer doesn't want to use strippers. In those cases I've used stainsolver.com which is an oxybleach. It removes about 90% of the old stain and is said to be safe for plants and such. Are there any other safe for vegetation alternatives?

Another idea is to take "before" shots when it's cloudy or rainy. Potential danger in playing with camera is that people will expect you to make more difference than humanly possible. Then they either realize that all it was is just fiddling with pictures or assume you did a lousy job...
