It's getting close for the drop

I allways say, you can tell when it's close to my son's birthday as the leaves start falling, August. And my wifes when the leaves start blooming, May. The drop in Northern Ca is starting, and last year was a great year my best. I hope everyone had the same experiance. It's time to get the...

    What do you like?

None of the above. A new deck to remove lumber glaze (redwood) I use Oxalic Acid. I wish you guys could see the results of redwood deck refinishing sometimes. But you all seem stuck with pressure treated wood from this board. (not that anything is wrong with that) Redwood is just a deck...

Sealmaxx, has anyone heard of this?

Thumbs up Ken! No one can touch that! Proof in the pudding, many products do the same thing, Ken has pointed to the major problem with these. The guy's deck is going to look like this till it ripped out. I see this all the time on thousand plus dollar decks! workable is the key....

Sealmaxx, has anyone heard of this?

Sounds like this... Spray this on your carpet and you will never have to vacuum again. Wash your car with this and you will never have to do it again. When you do a deck for a customer do you really think it will be kept clean? No pollen no dirt not BBQ grease no dust and no weather wear...

gutter damage - what to do...

It sounds like the paint on the gutter was failing before you washed, were they dusted out ( when you rubbed your hand on the gutter did the paint chalk up on your hand? ), I can't see a problem with simple green it's not a paint stripper. I really feel the paint was blown in the first place...

    This deck is killing me

I would not put more oil on the deck, whats down now is sealed adding more will just float and end up sticky. You should just redo the deck and take it as stuff happens. The home owner wanted a complete job you now need to finish it. The weather is not the customer problem it is yours.

    Gutter cleaning part II

I think it's called gutter buster? But I only clean the insides. I think you will find the info easy in the Powerwashering area vs gutter cleaning. It's similar but quite a few that read this forum are into inside of the gutters more than outside. Outside is more in tune with whole house...

    Oil Based vs. Water Based

good question... I use pads only... The Padco pads hold plenty for me even too much at times. I use Super Deck Oil only. Water based products do hold less but I don't use them.

    gutter cleaning question

In Spring till Fall I do Decks, and like you say the added jobs start. I always make sure during decks jobs to inform my customers about the gutter cleaning side, and Gutter customers of decks. You can pick nice jobs this way. I do lay the jacks on the roof takes me above the gutters good...

    Oil Based vs. Water Based

I can use a pad on two jobs of similar color, only during the same day. I pick up the 8" padco pads for 3 bucks a pop. Washing these disposable pads is a waste of time and labor. On rough decks and large decks I Will use 2 at times. The cost is in my final bill, I always break the Labor and...

    Oil Based vs. Water Based

Waterborne products encapsulate the wood and don't allow it to breath, no oil results in dry-ed out wood. The removal damages the wood, one of my jobs this week was a waxed deck water based product a local company keeps pushing for redwood!!!! They just keep adding more on top of the past years...

    Condo Proposals

I think not sure, but the Padco Stain Pads are the ones everyone is talking about. Lambs wool would grab splinters and be slower than above mentioned. We can out do a spray job with pads 100% used all the time. No masking needed. By the time a spray job is setup were are just about done...

    Surface cleaner on wood???

Knee jerk reaction! nope..... A deep thread on this should be around you mite want to search it out. What type of wood is the most inportant information you could provide for a correct responce. It goes against the grain of most of us pro's and for good reasons.
