    A quick education in hoods....

David, I am going to take your offer. Just gotta work out how and when to get away from here for a few days. I do beleive it's better to learn from someone on the job than just a classroom. More likely to have questions come up. Still am going to get all the manuals and tapes also...

    A quick education in hoods....

Hey guys, I am also looking into getting into hood cleaning. Have ordered the NFPA 96 and have been reading and learning as much as possible form the net. But feel that as opposed to decks and roofs, hood cleaning is something that I'd be better off learning from a pro rather than self-taught...

How well do Yellow Pages work for residential?

I'm sure it varies from area to area, but we have benefited very well from the Verizon Yellow Pages and the Former-GTE Yellow Pages. Residential has been good from both of these. But the commercial accounts have been outstanding! (Only takes a couple of big ones)

    apartment complex bids

Definitely check for water sources. We have several complexes here that we do (some yearly, some every 2 yrs) Some have water at every building, yet others have maybe 2-3 hook-ups total. For these we have a stock room half filled with water hoses just for these locations. So if that is the...

    strange sealer

Johny, We did a deck this summer with Olympic's "Storm Grey" Yes, at some angles it looks invisible, not even a natural looking clear, but like nothing at all was on there. And that is with putting it in heavier than I was comfortable with. Not sure if this info helps you or not, but you...

    Sikkens deck sealer

Have not used Sikkens stains or sealers. But they do make an excellent-excellent automotive finish. Very expensive but worth it. Top of the line. As for decks...don't know...

    Telemarketers!

About 2 months after we incorporated we were flooded with those type of calls. When I asked where they were getting our number I was told we had been listed in the "National Directory" for businesses. But they would call from 7:30 am until I turned the phones off at 5:00 And they were from...

    of sap and cars

You can get sap remover from an Auto Supply place. Basically Gasoline, Kerosene or Deisel will be somewhere in the mix. (Maybe not Gasoline...but it will work) Dawn is rough on your wax as are any of the above mentioned. Try some liquid Oxacylic, it is used by detailers to remove sap, bug...

Will magnetic signs on truck ruin paint job?

Rick, That is partially true on the insurance, they may still cover the one accident, but will more than likely drop you. An added benefit to commercial ins is that if someone is injured, and they find out you were working, then a lawsuit is more likely and commercial ins is going to...

    Buying into a business

The equipment may hold up to some of the cash. But what you need to know is what is their reputation. Are the accounts happy with the service they are getting. Does the company have a good or bad name around town already? With the same 25k you can get yourself started and on a good run...

    Mortar Spill Clean-up

A customer just had a tile floor installed in her kitchen. The contractors used her back porch to cut the tile. They got reddish-pink tile dust all over her light colored brick (Muriatic or Oxacylic to clean??) And spilled mortar on the brick steps and then it rained and now she has...

    Silicone Sealer for Buildings

Am currently working a bid for a T.V. station and they want a silicone sealer applied after it is cleaned. It's a 3 story textured concrete building. Any suggestion on where to find this stuff in bulk? The one gallon cans I can get my hands on will just not be all that fun opening and...

    inside wash rig

How do you like the RK-31? We've got one, and when it works it's one awesome cleaner. But trying to get service from D*L*O when problems do arise has been the biggest hassle. Machine has been down for 5 of the 8 months we've had it. But, does clean really well though...
