new to the site.. cool!

ok... i'll be honest, i'm a lawn guy but with a couple customers asking for windows to be cleaned, it's hard to say no.

so as an amatuer i think how hard can it be... wash it up, dry it off... i know, ignorance.

So the question, what's the difference between some hack washing a window, and a window cleaned by the professionals...

technique.... materials...????

Both,

You can get by with washing with dish soap and water, but you should really have squeegee and scrubber and learn a bit. You can get pretty good money from cleaning windows.

One huge difference between a hack and a pro window cleaner is the amount of time it takes to do the cleaning. A pro is going to know how to "fan" a window to squeegee it in one big stroke. A pro is going to know when to use steel wool to get the tough stuff off, and how to use a scraper so as not to scratch the glass. And a pro is going to know pretty close to how long a job is going to take so he can bid it correctly.

We have seen some of the window jobs that the handymen do in Naples, FL and they are not good, this is where windows get scratched.
I am not saying you will do this but do you not know any professional window cleaners that you could recommend, do a good dead.

Just like with PW'ing... its all in the technique.

Some people will get windows cleaner than others, some will take more time than others.

A pro would not use steel wool on a window. A scrapper should be more than enough. Ine 6 years of cleaing windows Ive never once even though about touching a window with that. It doesmt matter how gentle or good you are there a high chance of a scracthing it

Interesting takes on this. To be honest there are as many ways to clean a window as there are to wash a house. No one technique is superior. In fact if we leave the residential arena you can clean a commercial plate with a pressure washer if you know what you are doing.
