Are Rotary Surface Cleaners Worth The Investment?? ;) Thanks!

Hi Guys!

I alluded to this subject in another post but thought that I would be more specific this time. I do alot of driveways and brick patios, that sort of thing. I have always used a 3600 PSI pressure washer to do the job. I'm wondering how many of you have used or currently use one of these surface cleaners. My questions:

1. Is it easy to handle?
2. Does it make a job faster?
3. I have a bit of the carpal tunnel going on in my wrists these days, so im curious if its a bit easy to use than the back and forth movement of a lance set up.

Much Appreciated!!!!

Very easy to use. MUCH faster than a wand. You'll kick yourself in butt for not getting one sooner.

surface cleaner? YES!!!!!

I have a surface cleaner - 20" stainless steel, 4 wheels - the best money I ever spent. SO much easier than lance, just wheel it around - back and forth, side to side. No aching hands, wrists, shoulders, back. You still need the lance for the edges and for spot cleaning any extra difficult stains. Still charge the same but be gone in a fraction of the time. Ask your supplier if you can borrow on for a test, or hire one for a day. Just do it!

With your hand situation, I would recommend that you get a 3-wheel model. Floaters and those with 4 swiveling wheels require more effort to "steer". I would also recommend that you switch to "easy pull" guns. They require significantly less effort to pull and to hold. While I'm thinking about it, I would also suggest a flow actuated unloader like a K-7. With a flow unloader, there is no kick when you pull the trigger.

(Speaking of triggers, I didn't know any better when I started (7 years ago) and gave myself "trigger finger", where my ring and middle finger on my right hand [yes, I'm right-handed] would lock when I made a tight fist - or when grasping an object, like a screwdriver or a pw gun. I've had 3 operations on it in the last 9 months, so it no longer lock, but they still aren't right.)

Thanks!

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the great advice on these machines! It sounds like I DEFINETELY need to pick one up, and SOON! Also, thanks John for the tips on lessening the impact of pw'ing on carpal tunnell. Where can I find one of these "easy guns"? Are they expensive? Cheers! [hello]

I'm not sure if Mark sells them, but, no, they are not expensive - about $30. If Mark doesn't, Northern Tool sells them.

I couldn't imagine not having surface cleaners.

Here's pix of a 16" floater attached to a portable 4gpm cold water machine.

Got the little Steel Eagle from Mark.

You can just see the edge of the blue trigger gun, which is an easy pull, from Mark also.
