I'm not here to debate the benefits of membership, but I am wondering how many people that view the boards are PWNA members.??

I have decided to run for the Board of Directors of the PWNA. The election is in the next couple of weeks, ballots will be sent by mail to all members.

I am hoping to recieve the support of those of you that are members.........

Thank you in advance,

Hello Mike,

You will have my vote if the ballot comes while I'm still a member!

I am not going to renew my membership.

Hello David,

May I ask you, why you're not renewing your membership. You are one of the senior members of PWNA ?

Mike if I was still a member you would get my vote.

Hope you get in, then you can do some good like have term limits so there will always be some new board of directors coming in with new ideas.

Good luck to you.

How come the active community here does not like PWNA?
They have called us to become involved with them for some advertising, tradeshow exhibiting etc...

I would be interested to know your opinions on them and why you are not going to renew.

One thing I can tell all here is that we have many vertical markets that we deal with, and by far the community that you all have in sharing ideas on this board and two others I have seen is farly superior to any other service industry. I am really impressed with how much you all help eachother out. It should be this way in every industry, there is more then enough business out there for everyone to be able to share!

Actually we would have gone but we are at a show in Atlantic City that weekend already, the NE Pool and Spa show.

Actually it's funny that you mention putting a booth next to clip's though, because that is exactly what we did for the IWCA show in Reno next week. I can't wait to see their faces when we have our software next to their's for people to comparison shop at the same time. I am really looking forward to it!!!

Hello Johnny & ServiceCEO,

The list of reasons why I'm not renewing my membership is rather long.

This may sum it up for you though. In answer to a question on what do you do to retain customers, I said. "Do what you said you would do, when you said you would do it and of course do it very well!" In my view, PWNA needs to do this to retain and grow its membership and creditability.

Hello David,

I hear what you're saying, I don't quite understand, though.
You are one of the original members and your company is certified through the PWNA for exhaust hood cleaning. Aren't you concerned about losing that element of your business ?

Do you feel like you are just throwing money in a dried up well ? Is that what you are saying ? Do you feel the guy in Chicago has too much control ?

I've considered joining but your dropping out puts a whole new slant on the issue.

Regards

Johnny

Chris,
As with any organization, you'll have your ups and downs depending on who is in office, and how actively they listen to their members. There are a good number of folks who feel unsupported, mostly out west.

We have been members for a few years now. When we first joined I will say that I was not thrilled with the support and a few other things.

Things have begun to change. We have found the support to be better, although we have not had much occasion to use it. But, the BBS's are the best support out there.

Having said all that I will also say that I believe the seminars are valuable to those who are just starting out. There is alot to learn, and the materials were presented well when we attended one of the seminars. In my opinion the credibility that goes along with being a member in the eyes of the consumer is what makes it worth the price of the fees.

Mike,
I was a member and even though I have not paid to be a member in the past year I think they still think I am. I may join in again in the future. If they send me a ballot you will surely get my vote. I think you can make a world of difference being a board member.

Good Luck
John

As you well know Mike I am a member. You have my vote when the ballot comes around. Although, I hope you can change things for the better. I cannot say for sure that I will be renewing next year, for I have not been too happy with my membership these past two years.

Good luck!

My answer is No I am not a member but if I were Mike you would have my vote. I really dont see where their would be any benifit to my company. After all if they were so great I guess this Bullitin Board would be on their site and we would be going their for all our help and info. I think the BBB is much more creditable in the eyes of Residental work then the PWNA would be.

For what it's worth, I had an awakening after going over the posts about PWNA here and else where. See how you feel about this - PWNA is obsolete!

I believe it was originally founded in the early 90's to give contractors a place to meet, talk & learn. To paraphrase the mission statement , "to raise the standard of professionalism, etc. "That was then, before the advent of this powerwash network which has filled that void. PWNA is suited to new people meeting experienced people-that's what happens here everyday. They indicate they train and educate contractors - I don't believe that can be accomplished with a 2 day seminar. Furthermore, if the two Davids intend to leave the PWNA fold and others here indicate not renewing, this is the tip of the iceberg, what's left?

So what I think PWNA boils down to, as somebody before me said is an opportunity to meet people who want you to buy something. Dan Flynn gives everyone the chance to belong to the Powerwash Network- where you can meet, talk and learn- thus raising the level of professionalism everyday AND it dosen't cost $250.00 plus a convention fee, etc.

It is free society, so this is not a reflection on you who belong,
you are free to join PWNA or not, this is not an indictment of those who are members, it's only my opinion!
