What I think is interesting is that so far the majority have said they aren't members of PWNA. On Another poll the majority said joining an org could help their business. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of both polls in a month or so to see how they balance out.

Thinking an org COULD help your business and joining a specific org that probably won't do much to help your business are two different things. They won't balance out.

Anything you work at can help your business and I don't recall seeing many members of PWNA say that it hasn't helped them at all. If there is anyone out there that paid the membership dues and didn't think they got much from it, maybe they left too soon? Or they might not have used it to their advantage in the right way. After all marketing can be pretty complex and costly if it's done wrong. I think the $200 I pay for membership is well worth what I get from the PWNA.

There are a few things coming up in the near future that will help PWNA members even more. Through programs like Clean Across America and other media attention the PWNA has gotten recently it's becoming more recognized every day and that will only help it's members. It will also open doors to PWNA members that we might not have ever expected...
Maybe it's just a matter of time before people start requesting a PWNA membership or methods to bid on jobs.. I've heard about it happening in South Carolina already and who knows what opportunities there will be in the future?

I joined in February and it has been great! Lots of great people willing to give a newer company invaluable information. One 400.00 job homeowner said he gave me a call because of it. Can I say it has doubled my business, no! but it has definitely helped. With ANY organization it is what you put in is what you get out. At my full time job we are members of the Chamber of Commerce, but do not participate in activities, so we do not get much out of it.

Lets see how many folks are PWNA Members, and also post on the bb.

A simple NO_YES should do .

You mean you don't want: "Heck no, I don't belong to that stupid, good for nothing, blah, blah, blah..." :) Just kidding! I understand.

The PWNA has been making quite a bit of progress lately. They have a new website and they have been getting contacted by corporations to contract with PWNA members and much more...

Has anyone been reconsidering their position on joining the PWNA membership? I'm just curious.

WOW Henry,

looks like only the members are going to get the high profile jobs next year..........What a bummer

Is that your best sales pitch?

John offered everybody a FREE membership if we bought his equipment.

Mmmm I wonder if he sold that yet?

Sales pitch? Not at all. I was only pointing out what the PWNA is doing.

Some of the comments in the past were that the PWNA wasn't doing enough to promote itself and it's members more.

Every organizations goal is to work for it's members and whatever industry it's involved in and the PWNA is doing that. If you want to call it a sales pitch that's up to you, I just call it progress.

Hey Dan, John made that offer because he's a nice guy. I don't think he make that offer exclusive to this BBS either. I think he made it for anyone that bought his equipment in order to help them succeed and that he believes being a member of the PWNA can help that happen.

I don't see anything wrong with trying to help out the new guy that's decided to buy some of your power washing equipment. There are a lot of people out there that would consider that an incentive to buy something... I'm sure we all try to give our clients a reason to by our services over anothers and that's what I think John is doing and I think it's a great idea actually.

Yes Henry your right as to why I offered a free PWNA membership. I feel the PWNA has helped me tremendously and I wanted to passed that onto whoever bought my set-up. Today there's a guy from NJ who is coming to take a look a look at the Powerwasher which he may purchase. I also have a few others interested in the whole set-up but this guy from NJ will be the first to see it. If he buys the Powerwasher and not the whole set-up then he's on his own if he wants to become a PWNA member. I think he may already be a member anyway.

I sold my other two trailers to PWNA members which some here probably know them both. These trailers where offered to all but for whatever reason these PWNA members jumped on these deals. I think my prices where fair if not even cheap. The Van I lowered the price by a $1000 and the Powerwasher with the hose reels. the frame to stack them and a big guy surface machine is going for $2500. That is fair to cheap marker value for a Landa Set-up.

I believe in the Past I offered to pay for Dan S. PWNA membership for a year if he showed up at our next Convention. He declined. Thats an offer I thought he wouldn't refuse but he did. I think me and Dan S. have the same passion as to why we believe what we do about the PWNA. For all the Positives that I think the PWNA offers Dan looks for all the negatives. Thats the way it is.............

How many of you guys belong to your local Chamber of Commerce?

Is that not an ORG.?

If you said yes to one or both explain why then PWNA or any other business specific ORG. would not help your business and why you joined your CC in the first place?

Hi Dan,

Sorry, that was my mistake.. You said if we bought it so I thought that's what you meant. The rest of my post is correct as I interpeted it though..

If you don't agree or haven't thought about changing your position on the PWNA though that's cool. I was just curious about what everyone thought.

John, I dont look for all the negs.
I know there are pros. to every org. However those same pos. has not made it clear to me that if I join I will be even more successful. And as long as this has been talked about it still remains one of those conversations that will be debated over and over.
I think it's okay for you folks to belong to the big P, I still cant see how it effects your business.

Do they have buying power yet?

how about group Ins.?

Even if they did have group Ins. the only true folks buying into it are going to be newbees. WHY? because if you have been in business as long as we have been, longevity plays and important role in Ins. coverage. I know it would take more then group Ins. to make me join. Only because of the above and I like my agents.

One thing that sticks out in my mind And I have been reluctant to even say any thing ......but ................ I didnt hear anything about the PWNA donating any money to the RED CROSS or SALAVATION ARMY recently over the devastation with the Hurricans. If you guys did I tip my hat to `ya. If `ya didnt then WHY?

Oh wait .....no money left to hand out b/c it takes more money to operate then you have members............

Every donation dont have to be made public.... But it would of been a really good idea if you donated .... Not just you and your business but the whole PWNA org.

I know for the most part we all did our parts in giving what we could.

Doing a job and donating all the profit towards the victims . ect ect.......... But I cant recall seeing a post saying the pwna is excepting donations to help the needy... Maybe you did and kept it in just the member section ....... Nor did I see a post saying that the PWNA DID donate a couple bucks to help out ...........

If you really wanted to advance the PWNA that would of been a great time to show your stuff.

So if pwna did I once again tip my hat..................and a firm hand shake is in order.

How many members in the pwna now?

I was a member of our local Chambers for one year ( about 3 years ago ).
I joined the Chambers like most people did to try and advance and market my business. When that did not work why stay a member?

You say it takes more then one year? well If the soap Im using dont work I dont use it...... same goes for an Org. that didnt work for me.

It that one year the only thing I got was tons of junk mail from other members wanting me to deal with them. I was also high bidder on a couple high Pro. jobs that 2 of the other bidders were Chamber members. And they awarded the job to me. .......... Go figure................ And the comapany that wanted the work done was die hard members. And Im still taking jobs away from members. And I bet any body here I can do it in their town with their LOGO of the PWNA beside their name.

SO did the Chambers help my business? NO Way

The same way I feel about PWNA ............ How is it gonna help ?????

Well first thing first.. How can joining and Org like the PWNA hurt? It certainly costs less than the chamber of commerce in my area!!

Okay the Katrina tragedy.

Many members of the Org did donate money and other things that I'm not at liberty to go into. I can say that I'm proud to be a part of an organization with members that care as deeply as some and help out the way that they did.

I don't know if the PWNA itself donated anything to people there but I do know that we did attempt to track down any power washing companies we know of in the effected areas to help.

One of the things I like about the PWNA is that in cases like Katrina, were all family and we reach out to check on each other and help out when possible.

The PWNA also helps out in many other ways when it can just like the PWNA's Clean Across America campaign which is one of the more publicized things the Org does for communities.

This is actually a pretty cool topic, maybe we can split it into another thread and see what everyone else did to help out with Katrina victims and other things... I've already listed all I can about the PWNA and it's members actions...
