BBS Recommendation?

I am launching a new Bulletin Board 1n 2012 and am somewhat familiar with Vbulletin as it is the common one around our industry but wanted to see if you knew of any other programs (Forums) that have some neat bells and whistles on them?

HUH, I am starting one too. But it will only be for the guys that have attended my school. I actually had a guy here last week that attended and his web site for his company is a Vbulletin forum. Was pretty Cool. Here is a link to it if you want to check it out.

Another free, open source is phpBB • Free and Open Source Forum Software

Both can be skinned and modded. You may be best to let someone set them up as no matter which you use, you have to build a database. Its not difficult, but it can be a pain if you make a mistake trying to diagnose the issue. When you have it set up, have them install the Tapatalk plugin so that your forum is viewable on that app.

With no disrespect meant to this forum, I would forego the landing page aspect and make your index.php be a direct to the forum subjects page. It is much better for SEO and gives more weight to threads.

VB Bulletin is worth the money IMHO

Dan Flynn went with VB Bulletin for this forum years ago,
most the Power Wash BBS since have done the same.

It was the right Choice, however my new site are going to use a different one. V sold and the support has changed
