Hello everyone.

I'm relocating to a new apartment in Ontario, about 15 minutes away from my current place, and trying to figure out whether to hire full service furniture movers or just rent a truck and handle it myself with friends.

I have a few heavy pieces including a sectional sofa, a solid wood dresser, and a piano that I'm nervous about moving without help. Has anyone used a moving company in the area for a short distance move like this and felt it was worth the cost?

I'd love recommendations on what to look for when comparing quotes, questions to ask before booking, and whether tipping movers is standard practice. Any tips on avoiding hidden fees would also be appreciated.

When comparing quotes, ask whether the price includes travel time, stairs, long carries, disassembly/reassembly, protective wrapping, and any special handling fees.
