Car Wash Stalls

Got a call today to clean some Car Wash stalls. Has anyone tackled one of these before? They have a ceramic or glazed coated block . There is a lot of buildup or scum on the surface from the oversplater. Any suggestions? Would I 2 step it? I think it would be simular to truck washing , except with extreme buildup. I need some suggestion or someone with experience.

Thanks

Micheal I think I would 2-step it,may have to make the brightern a little stronger to cut the scum, the brightener should speed up the job.

I have several customers cleaning car washes, they use Aluminum Brightener / Hydroflouric and Sulfuric acid to clean the soap, and hard water scum off the walls.

Some applications phosphoric acid works better.

Remember to wear protective clothing goggles, rubber gloves etc.

Respirator optional, and a Good Idea! You can neutralize just like with a 2 step.

Mel,I wash sometimes in the 20's and it still works, this weekend is in the high 30's low 40's I sure hope it works. You must be using dat cheap stuff again, really sometimes it works better b/c it doesn't dry so fast.If it's real real real cold I sometimes will give the truck a hot rinse before I apply the brighter,it warms up the metal for a faster explosion or you can apply it hot you know, you knew dat tho didn't ya.

Attention All --- Got the Bid. Time and Materials. I will be doing an Acid Wash with a mild soap hot rinse. Did a test to day which was successful. I will be using a non HF Aluminum brightner.

Thanks again for all the imput.

then

i am assuming your useing PH acid?
Still would'nt hurt to add a little HF to the PH if you need some kick.

Attention All ---- Finished the job yesterday. Used a 10% mix and had to brush it to agitate it to clean it. After multiple application everything came clean. Tried to 2 step , but buildup was too thick. Nuetralized with soap and them rinsed. Everything real pretty. We will check back in 4 - 6 mo for repeat service .

FYI , Sulfuric Acid <25%/ Ammonium Bifluoride <15%
Not as hazardous as HF.
