the names of chemicals can be really confusing because a lot of them have the spelling is kind of similar and sound similar but is totaly different like someone had a question about a roof cleaning job and the use of sodium hydroxide where in fact a fellow member with a knowledge about chemicals pointed out that he hoped he meant sodium hypoclorite which was the proper chemical to use and the other would actualy destroy oil base products and dissolve metal.being new to the buisness and need educating in cleaning chemicals and their uses maybe some you pros can tell me where i can find a good book on cleaning chemicals are chemicals magazines your help would be appreciated.thanks

Blingbling,
You can use Sodium Hydroxide for cleaning roofs, I know because I use it. It won't damage the roof anymore than the Sodium hypochlorite will. Fact is, both of these chems in high concentrations are damaging. Most of the chems you buy have bases such as Sodium hydroxide, look at the msds's. These are the active ingredients.
