Ok computer geeks and there seems to be a lot of you here so I am sure to get enough help on how to connect two computers to use my DSL modem.

So you know what I do understand and can take it from that point forward.

I know I need a earthnet card in each computer and one extra in mine since it is the main computer. One from the DSL modem to the IN earthnet card, one from the out to the other computer.

Now what I do not know is what else do I need do with the earthnet card in second computer and how do I configure all the software?

Both have Windows 98 2nd edition.

Remember I still need to connect Remy's monitor to this second computer and probably will dig out the old ab switch unless there is a much better way to do that.

Go ahead and confuse me now.

Thanks in advance for all the help I will get here.

OK Jon here goes,

You need a DSL router (or switch), and two ethernet cards. You can go to Best Buy, or Circuit City, or even better, a local mom & pop computer store. The ethernet cards would be best if they are "PCI" style. A good sales person can help you with that. The router should be easy to set up by just following the directions that came with it. Last but not least, you need the cat-5 cables. The will connect both pc's to the router, and the router is connected to your dsl connection.

Tell ya what, I need a vacation, so if you send me an airline ticket, I'll come out and set it up for ya! Ain't I generous.

Red eye special:) good enough, and only if the price is right!

Ok I follow that easy enough, now how about getting into the software in Windows to configure the two? Or does the router take care of all the rest for us?

Jon,
Usually, the routers come with all the software needed to set em' up. Then, a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, or Netscape is used to configure them. You just need to know your IP address and specific settings to plug in. Your ISP can provide all that for you.

It's really not as difficult as you are probably imagining. If it were, nobody would be buying the things!

As far as the red-eye goes, I'll already have that dealing with the four hour jetlag. See, I've already got my sunglasses on...
