Hi everyone. I just got a call for a estimate bid on cleaning a large deck with cwf on it. He wants to recoat it if possible. Has anyone used it before?
If so how hard is it to apply? Another question is this sealer easy or hard to strip? It is approx about 1yr old. Thanks for the help. Tim

I have stipped it many times.......its not terrible as long as they dont have multiple coats on there........did one last year that had seven coats on the rails.......

Whatever you do, talk this guy out of using it again! Educate him a bit. CWF does not really hold up for very long........there are dozens of better products out there (my opinion). I doubt many here will disagree.

CWF or CWF UV.There is a difference.Regular CWF Is thin and can be sprayed with a pump up.It is also easy to strip off(maybe just a cleaner),CWF UV is thick and sits on top of the wood. When you strip it it peels off like dead skin from a sunburn. It can be difficult to remove if it was applied in the sun...it seems to be rock solid, but strong sodium hydroxide should do it.

I agree. Educate, educate, educate. Try to talk them out of it. CWF is basically a "home store" product. Check your local paint store for the Flood Pro-Series sealers/stains. I agree as above, if you don't have to use it, DON'T. Flood Co. will tell you that CWF-UV is tough to get off and they make the stuff. You are a professional contractor, use a professional contractors product. Sure there are a lot of products that can be put down to cut down time and make more money, but are you really satisfied in your quality of work by doing that? Or do you want to be the best at what you do and give your customer only the best? Most of the time, product choice is ours through educating the customer on the needs of their exterior wood care. Just my 2 cents worth.
