Monday it started a steady rain and is still rainning here, cold wet damp rain,R/F 32/36 "deering" the day.A OTR driver and I went to the hills Wednesday to see how many deer we could see while just driving around in the red chevy.Up one hill down the other type woods, gravel roads mudd_E and all the small creeks looked like rivers when crossing .RAIN RAIN RAIN until about 2 hours before dark then it slacked up to just a d'izzle. We had not seen any deer up until then and man I got to wishing I hadn't took the red chevy, deer were every where, jumping fences in front us running across the road going every where, theres one theres one theres one hey that one like to got us,I was do'ing my best not hit one with the chevy. Then IT GOT DARK to where I couldn't see them until right on'em,I started driving about 5 to 10 mph to what same'd like 100's but only 10/15 miles to main drag. Will we got up this morn early and it was still steady rain but we went hunting anyhow b/c we knew they where like rabbits in that area it would be problem getting one,,no we did not use no blinds just stood out there in dat STEADY RAIN until around 10 a.m. or as I told the OTR,D. they never stopped running last night b/c I think they ran plum out of the country. So on the way back we decided to go check out the lake we fish b/c they drain it down every low this time of year to flood hardwoods for the duck hunters. So our ideal was to unload the 4wheelers and drive around the lake looking for losted fishing lures in the rock, logs and stuff. Will first thing off he got stuck trying to cross one of the fingers,he made it to right about middle and down he went man bigger shit right out in middle of the finger but he was lucky b/c it was a stump bed.yel wen'ch time but who gets off to wade the mud to hook it to dat stump,I hadn't tried crossing yet so I hallowed stay on I'll drive out and drag you out,we wen'ch both to the other side,we where mudDY from head to toe, will it was still steady rain but we looked for awhile, found a few, found somemore muddy fingers that we had to wen'ch across, even tho wet, muddy and cold we were enjoying it.On the way back home we talked about how sorta a great day it was even tho STEADY RAIN,we jumped out of the truck made a wild run for the front porch and I seen a package up againest the door hmmmmmm ??? could be a chemical ??,my hands were full so the OTR D brought it inside and I told him to go ahead and open it as I went to put the guns up,When I returned I frooze in my tracks,,,,I had just thought I had a great day today until I seen that race car,,,,,,man,,,,.OTR D said whats wrong........Nothings wrong but old betsy the milkcow would haveta come to life for the day to get any greater than this......from the bottom of my heart Dan S I thank you and your family with tears.Don't want to get the key board wet but will be back to kick ya around haha.....................C-ya,,,Larry

MERRY CHRISTMAS LARRY..............

It has been raining here also but hey ,,,,,, I love it

Well we hunted all day monday and never saw a tail........ the only thing we got was a frecken GAME WARDEN!!!!!! GAVE ME A FRECKEN FINE............ o-well guess I was just needing a reminder.. never move your 4 wheller with your son on the back with a loaded gun............guess it could of been worse ... it could of been in the 500..00 to 600..00 range but i guess they thought it was enough.. to give me 236.00 fine..........This is the first year that doe season and buck season are put together ya can get a doe if ya got your doe license .....so I shot A big ole doe in the head with my 357 mag..... it was about 20 30 yards away .. but boy was it fun that ole girl dropped like a wet sake of taters.........

the temp got to around 60 and no butcher would cut it for me b/c they were full and didnt have any more room in the frezzer.. so I had to take it home and do it my self....... I cheated though I skinned it then cut it up in big chunks and placed it in the frezzer .. then I took my ole radial arm saw and hacked away ... looks real good ... made a mess outa my wall in garage but it came real clean with 3000 psi...........I could write all night talkin about hunting but I wont bore ya no-more..........

BUuuRR R/F 27 with a SW wind at 13/18 mph.,they stopped by to get me to go hunting with them again this morning b/c its cloudy with a real fine D'izzle and they knew I wasn't going to work in it.I had planned to work today b/c weather ch. said pretty with a high of 52,,think they need to fire him,he sure missed up a hunt for me,I have to go pick up a chemical order anyway, will sometime today,I could have went hunting but like I said BRuuURR,the way they were humped up when they came in the house I knew I didn't want done of it.

Sorry to hear ya got caught as a bad guy, breaking the rules and all that stuff, yel you were lucky, they could have stuck it to ya,bet Son still laughing cuzz they stuck it to dad but let him go.Hope you realize they do that with dad and son hoping son learns to teach his children not to do like dad or grandpa but as the rules say.Back in younger days I did break game rules but was lucky never gettiing caught but I have always told my son it was wrong and I didn't realize at the time I was stealing and shoting what may have been his bucks mother that he never gets, hahaha.

Our License come with 4 deer with only two beening bucks, they can all be doe's.On the Bucks we have a 3 point rule, they have to have atleast 3 points on one side to be legal. With extra permits I think either 6 or 8 deer you can get, told ya we have area's they're like rabbits. You can go to Arkansas game and fish on the net to see a total kill of last year in different zones,,not counting the ones that wasn't checked the total would have been more,I live in zone 3 which I think had over 27000 checked, closer to 28000.It opens here 1st Oct. and close's the last of Feb., I think 16 days beening modern gun the rest bow, muzz, crossbow.
When the weather settles and I get caught up the 2 man boat wants to go fishing and take me with it,I had rather fish then hunt this time of year.......its going to be one of those days man,I just realized when I shaved this morn I only got one side but guess its a first time for anything, just glad I wasn't on the job when I noticed it or while picking up dat chemical order,hehe.............thanks again for beening the type friend you are,you can chew or kick me around anyday................C-ya

Boys,
I see you guys talk about hunting deer. That is good and all but you need to experiance elk hunting in Colorado. Nothing like it in the world. I am gettine ready to go elk hunting tomorrow. Should be fun about 6-7 inches of snow on the ground and very cold. But all worht it when you bag that monster. This year I am just going for a cow elk. Can't wait to shoot my .300 Weatherby tomorrow. And watch the elk run.

Bigboy,

Wish our herd was as large, they've got our hands tied compared to you. We can take 1 buck in archery season and can apply for another during gun (IF) you've filled your tag during archery season. Have to apply for a doe tag and is only issued in certain zones to select individuals and depends on current year population. If you're a land owner with XXX acres I think you can obtain another doe tag and must be taken on your land - not quite sure how that works though.

I live and hunt in a shotgun only zone, although I've heard that they might be going to rifle next year.......and they'd never let us use a crossbow. So the absolute best for the average non-landowner it's 2 bucks and a doe if you're lucky enough to get issued a tag.

Dan,

Glad you walked away with minimal damage.

I think our game and fish are doing a great job in managing our game.We have alot of turkeys now,can go bear hunting, elk with a permit, have alot of game to hunt, they also doing a great job on stocking fish in the rivers and lakes, have alot of great trout waters,we hold the world record on the walleye which we haven't had in our waters until game and fish started stocking them a few years ago.Can stand and watch 1000's of ducks and greese in alot of the zones,we even have a crow season haha.
Alot of hunters around here feed the deer year round, they have feeders set up in the woods everywhere, you wouldn't believe how much is sent on deer feed here, not only that but turkey, squr'els, bears will alot of things eat out of those feeers, making them alittle fat'er plus a little different tast as in grain feed.
I live in a great area to hunt and fish, from creeks to large rivers, from ponds to large lakes just a few mins. away or just down the road.

Was going to wish Dominic good luck but I see he's shooting a weatherby.....what you mean watch the elk run, heck just the blast from the bullit should be close enough haha
