Wish I knew of something good to suggest. I'm starting to look into purchasing one also. A friend of mine knows a guy who uses them quite often and I'll try and speak with him about it.
Hopefully he'll be able to offer some good advice and I'll let you know what he has to say. With all the digital pictures/websites on the board here, I figured that someone had at least one they were happy with.

I don't have any suggestions on which brand of camera to buy, but I do have a suggestion on which batteries to use when you do get one.

I have an older Casio camera which uses 4 AA batteries. When I got it, I was real disappointed on how fast it would go thru a set of battries. I talked to others who had different brands and found they had the same problem. With the flash on mine would only take 20-25 pics then the battires were dead. Even tried NiCad battries and they weren't much better, but you could recharge them. One day in Radio Shack, the salesman suggested using Nickel-Metal Hydirde(Ni-MH) batteries. Said they would last a lot longer. I was skeptical, but tried them anyway. They cost about $20 for 4 AAs and a charger. To test to see how many pics I could get on one charge, I started taking pics as fast as the flash would charge. I gave up at 150 pics the battery meter was still just under full.

Hope you find a camera you like, They are a great tool.

David,

I bought a Kodak Digital DC240 Zoom camera about a year ago.
(1.3 megapixels) I have been happy with it, but I guess it is relevant to
your usage, and expectations.

My brother is a professional photograper, and thinks my Kodak is a toy.

His digital camera cost $25-K mine cost about $300.

Check out Deal time to find the best price on the web for the digital camera you decide to buy.

I have a Nikon 880 3.3 mega pix and love it. I tried a lot of them and that was the only one I liked. Cost 650.00 at the time. Which was a good deal.

I have a Kodak DC290 - 2.1 MP . It uses the flashmedia and has a digital and optical zoom. Very happy with it. Cost around $650 retail or you can pick one up on Ebay for around $500-550.

I use a Sony Mavica FD-88. It is only 1.3 megapixels, but I am happy with it. It stores the photos on floppy disks, which I like better then the memory cards. To each his/her own.
