ANy body run into the nightmare of efforescence on brick? It's the white lime that is in the brick .. Had a flue that was loaded with it .... I put the " wonder" chem on it and everything was looking great so I sealed it with a good sealer..... stopped by today to see how it still looks and WHAMMMMMM .......... It looks worse then before.

Now I no it's like any other deal you have to find the out where the water is making it's way thur it .....the wash is in great shape ....... but some of the mortor is missing .....not alot I dont think to make this much white crap. It has a liner .........

Okay what is the best way to get it off and keep it off.......... dont tell me zerro nozzel or a turbo...... I have seen first hand what that can do to brick...... And I also know that you cant hit it hard with water and you must do it at a angle so as to not pound it back farther in the brick..... I also tried a wire brush and a grinder with a wire brush attatchment.......... It only takes the first layer off and not anything in the cracks of the brick ...... ANd please dont tell me to use BLEACH thats only good for washing clothes...... and bleach wont do jack!

okay scratch yo head and lets hear your thoughts !

got to www.prosoco.com and find a dealer near you. Or call around to the brick and masonry supply companies in your area and ask if they sell Prosoco products. There s a whole line of chemicals for every type of brick situation.

the D 101 dont work anybetter then what I have ...............It is a great product though ......

what I have found is not using any h20 and no chems.....that is the best way to re-move the "salt" ........... one of those lesson learn jobs...........................................

Wire Brush on a hand grinder .................... Anytime you add H20 to the Efflor. all you do is make more "cream"...(salt) . You can do it with H20 but you need to do it @ an angle so you are not driving the Efflor. back into the brick .. ............. Therefore I used a wire brush and a wire brush on an elec. grinder and brick by brick I cleaned it .................phewwwwwww what~A~ job ...........

In Ireland here we have a product called Santrax which is a specialised brick cleaner. Over here effloresence is the Lime in the brick and not salt. high pressure weather forces the lime out, so we treat it with santrax acid and then rinse off, cos we all know that as pressure is forcing it out , pressure just forces it back in.
