Equipment Advice

I am looking to ad a hot water unit to our business. We do a lot of other types of cleaning, but this will be new to us. What are some of the things to look for in equipment, I am thinking from what I have seen 5+GPM and min of 3500psi. I would really like to have the options of a 2 operator unit. Any advantage in the areas of fuel choice? I would like to do this right the first time and not be looking to upgrade after week two of using the thing ..any help would be appreciated and I'll take any advice that you think may be relevant to the selection of a new purchase.
Thanks

Zach,

Volume is king! Definitely 5+ GPM.

I find units with generator / 115 v burners to be more reliable
in general. Adequately sized fuel tanks are also important.

We have been in the business for @ 30 years now some of
our favorite brands are:
(In alphabetical order)

Alkota, All American, Hydro Tek.

I am using a home-built unit (sort of, i used a stripped down whitco stinger 2 steam cleaner and converted it to a pressure washer heater with flow switch, thermostat, etc and a 13hp honda with an AR pump i got on ebay then bolted it all to a trailer with a 330 gal tank) for the time being but I have to say I am pretty impressed with the hydrotek units. Once i get on my feet a little better I may very well go that direction myself. I would find something, as you said, atleast 5gpm, probably more like 6 or 7 and honestly, i dont see much need for more than 3000 psi, alot of times i am quite satisfied with 1000 to 1500PSI. My machine is capable of 4,000 but i cant remember the last time i fired it up and actually ran it at 4,000 psi. Nothing wrong with a 3500 or 4000 psi machine, but if you can get the same volume with less pressure for cheaper, i'd go for that. Also i had one insurance company tell me they wouldnt insure me with a unit capable of over 3500 psi. Might be something to keep in mind.
