Blog Article from the California Pressure Washing Blog

If there were one or two favorite places in your service area that you thoroughly enjoy pressure washing at, where would it be?

For my company, New Look Power Wash, I would have to say that no matter what time of day or night it is we enjoy the sights and sounds of pressure washing in San Francisco and also Las Vegas. To be blunt about this, how cool is it to pressure wash in the world’s most traveled vacation destinations like San Francisco? In early December, we had the opportunity to pressure wash right on the San Francisco Embarcadero that had the San Francisco Bay Bridge as a perfect background. Our client, which so happened to be a very well known and upscale athletic club, offered the perfect venue for our company to soak in the sights and sounds of tourist visiting the City By The Bay! The famous Lombard Street and its surrounding streets has also been a delightful opportunity for our pressure washing company to take in the views as we performed our washing services to both residential and commercial clients.

Our business has put us in different parts of San Francisco repeatedly over this past year and every time we are given the opportunity to pressure wash there we take advantage of the trip. Whether we find ourselves in the Mission District or near Civic Center we appreciate the time spent in this great city called San Francisco helping our customers beautify their properties.

I have wrote about this before but will mention it again here, pressure washing and the opportunities to visit and work in some of the most unique parts of the United States sometimes supersedes any payday one could ask for. I encourage all pressure wash contractors to take many pictures and videos of that special view or unique photo op while washing. 10 years from now it would not hurt to get out this pictures and videos to cherish the good times as a pressure washing contractor

Good article Carlos. A couple of years ago we had a store chain that we did twice a year that took us up thru 4 states. Being the way I am we crammed these stores in and slept during the day and went right back at them. We drove 2200+ Miles in 5 nights to do these stores. Even put my truck on a ferry to save a few hundred miles and that was cool. If you can believe this one of the stores was just blocks away from the Niagra falls. Because we had one flatbed truck and 3 guys there was no way to break away and soak that in at night. If I had to do that over again we would have stopped for an hour to soak that in before we drove another couple of hundred miles away.

Blown opportunity there and If I get the chance again that stop is going to be made. To date I have never seen in person the Niagra Falls.

We do some accounts in Manhattan and one is just down the road from the Empire State bldg. My guys do that every month and sometimes I take Kathy and we just soak it all in. Last year while my guys worked Kathy and I went just a few blocks away for a Fundraiser for our Friend Jim Ryan the Fireman who died on x-mas day 2 yrs ago. The Fundraiser was done up with class and the stars lined up right that night to do it all. Thats one for the memory bank.

To be honest it was never my goal Doug. But with my back in the shape it is in I can't do much of anything else. The few times I've ignorred the doctors orders and worked a full day I've been bedridden for several days afterwards.

That is my Goal.

Unfortunately as the way business usually works Jims method above is the best way to make the most money. My Cousins now ex husband fell off a roof and shattered both his legs with one being a compound fracture. This was about 15 yrs ago. Today he is hobbled because of that but financially his business exploded once he stopped doing the work. He now which is really the ultimate goal to do is be a "People Manager".

I don't plan on getting rich from Powerwashing. Of course it would be nice but when I can I still want to be out there in the field and even doing the physical work such as fixing the machines and riding the Swabby. To me it keeps me loose..... but to my body at times my mind and body(I know makes no sense) have a difference of a opinion about this[wsmile]

Same here...I enjoy being out there in the "mix". A few of people that I speak to tell me it is time to hire and let the younger guys do the work...yea....I guess I could justify that but I am having too much fun. Maybe in 2012...or 2013!!! I am in no hurry to grow any faster, meanwhile I am enjoying the ride.

In hindsight my spinal injuries might of been the best thing to happen to me, in relationship to my (now) full time focus on my businesses. I have signed more very valuable work then ever before. No longer miss phone calls (except the ones I chose to ignore) and actually have found more quality time tom spend with my family.
Made six figure deposits last month alone, and Grime Busters is moving forward and expanding at a rapid pace.

You made a positive out of a Negative. Thats the best way to go. People can say "Hey I bet you would give it all up to be healthy again" but in reality thats never a choice because the injury already happened. Good Job Jim to turn tragedy into a success story. Most of the times and this is unfortunate but alot of people can never make that turn to better themselves to the extent that you have after suffering from such a painful injury. That says volumes about your determination.....and as Jim Valvano use to say when he was diagnose with Terminal cancer and was the ex Coach of a National Champion NC state College basketball team and fellow Long Island Home boy...."Never give up...Never ever give up".

Thanks John. Everyday vertical is a winning day. Surrounded by tragedies and the economic turmoil, all I've ever done is wake-up each morning, and my gratitude takes over from that point forward.

I have it really good, and I'll never lose my gratitude. A wonderful family, the love of my life who treats me like a King, the best group of friends I could ever imagine, and the love and respect from many of the folks I have worked with, have worked for me and who I am proud to call my friends and colleagues.

Life is good, and people like you John and the family of quality contractors we are privileged to have here on the PWN make it all worth it.
