finding the consistency of the foam

need a little bit of help trying to find the right consistency of the foam. just brought the equipment has the 5 gal pale. i also have the foam chem. i know its trial and error to find the right mixure but at the same time im wasting my expensive chems and still have not got it right. im filling the 5 gal bucket 3/4 of the way with my mixure of sodium and water and then 1/4 of the bucket with the foamer. not sure on how much foamer is to be used.

im sure someone has a technique to doing this if your using a refrence line on your bucket so you know how much foamer to add and your chem mixure. i could get it to foam but its watery and runs down easy and doesint stick. any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks

First off I would use a measuring cup for your foaming agent, so you know exactly how much you are using. The other thing to make sure is that you mix it in VERY well. Start with your chemical knob completely turned off, you should just be getting air coming out of the gun, then do half turns on your chemical knob until you get your foam. If using this method, you still only get wet foam, then you need to add more foaming agent.

That is the same problem I had with my new foamer on Tuesday. I was so disappointed to fall back on my 5 gallon foamer. Tommorrow, I have 2 daytime jobs, so I will close my chemical valve, then open it 1/2 turn untill I get chemical.

I will also try my KC anti-chemical sleeves and my new purple gloves.

Maybe I'll even use cold water again.

Last Sunday I used my really expensive magnetic scraper, worked great on a never cleaned duct. I need to get a longer handle though.

i was told that it needs to be mixed very well. i have been playing with it and it seems much better but not exactly what i would like it to be. i am getting the hang of it i just keep mixing it and see what happens.

It's all in the wrist. [2cool]

TGP Super Foam may be the answer to your problems. If you are using the Foamer 5 it will need to be dialed in correctly. A consistent mix on your chemical will help too, what and how are you mixing now?

i have the 5gallon pail with the foamer attached to the top. and im using alkaline foaming agent. i was told that mixing was the key to making foam. i mix it right on site due to how bad the job is i could dilute my chemical. right now im mixing by hand.LOL.i know dont make fun of me but im getting a mixer like you would stir paint. but i would really APPRECIATE some tips. thanks dodsonish.

I have some killer foaming agent I can get you a sample of if you want. Shoot me your address and I will hook you up. It definitely helps to mix it right, but you also have to have the right chemicals to mix. I have gone through probably 10 different foaming chemicals since we started foaming but nothing compares to this new stuff we have.

Looking for a good foamer, whats the availability on the garden hose foamer? Also what degreaser are you using for the KEC, right now I am using super doug with a D-Limonene booster, killer stuff, always looking for ways to improve my work while lowering our costs!

You can get the foam on 5 from Sanitation Tools Cleaning Systems if you want to just try the foaming out, there is a 2 gallon pump up that runs about $100. Super Doug is a good foaming degreaser.

We mix our chems on site using caustic beads and a stuff called Detergent Booster from Morgan Gallacher Custom Chemical Formulators, Inc. They sell a product that is actually superior to Super Doug called Alkafoam. Ask for Scott.

They are two different foamers. The Foam on 5 works well and you would probably do better with that one seeing as you do other types of pressure washing. We do not sell the water hose foamer, it was a plan at one time, but we gave up on the idea of marketing them. Too many risk factors involved.

There is a guy pretty near you that has had some really good luck with that Foam on 5, here is his website:

How do you build the GHF? I have seen the foam on 5, Lafferty has a good venturi model that works with concentrate, water supply and compressed air...$750 bucks. I only want the foamer for KEC. So the GHF would be ideal.
