Fuel Pump Problem

This is a duplicate post that I have on another site.

Im having a fuel pump problem on one of my skids. Suntec A2VA-7116 fuel pump. 12v beckett burner.

All of the sudden the fuel pump stopped working. But it was drawing fuel and returning it thru the return line. But there was no fuel pressure. I put a guage on the guage port to verify this. I checked all the filters and replaced the racor just to be sure.

I replaced the pump with a new spare I had. All the fittings are tight, no air leaks. New fuel in tank. Pump pressures up and had 140psi at port line. 30 minutes after running it looses fuel pressure. Turn off machine, turn back on and fuel pump runs for 10 seconds at 140 then goes to 0, no fuel pressure again.

Im baffled.
I have:
New pump.
All fittings are tight.
New racor filter.
Clean fuel.
Good charged up battery, igniter works fine.

I need some imput here.

Thanks

140 is high..... I run between 80 and 100.... Maybe you are blowing out the diaphram in the pump ??? Everything else you did.....

One of the ports has a allen screw, did you make sure the new one had the allen screw in the right port?

140 PSI is typical for A Beckett burner.........

What fuel are you running?
Diesel?
Kerosene?

Have you checked your flex coupler for pump drive?

fuel pump

Thanks guys,

There is an allen screw in the return port to make the bypass work. Thats done.
140 psi is the spec for the beckett burner. my other skid runs at 140 and is fine.
Diesel fuel, new and clean.

The coupler between the fan motor and fuel pump is fine, not stripped out or loose. Pump actually turns and sucks fuel and returns it thru the bypass.

Pump just wont hold working pressure.

From what you are saying, I would think your fuel line/ fuel nozzle is plugged. That is why the fuel is going back thru the return line. Try a new fuel nozzle, would be my guess.

fuel pump

Had a hairline crack in the fitting between the racor filter and the pump body.

Replaced and resealed all fittings and problem solved.

Replaced the pump and it looks like I didnt have to.

By turning down the psi. Wouldnt you be hindering the heating ability.
To conserve diesel why not just turn your thermostat down to a cooler temp?

140 to 160 PSI is pretty typical on a Beckett burner, they are designed to
operate at those pressures.
