Gators or Gortex

Ok laugh if you must but I am sure all you hunters and hikers know what gators are, those silly things we use that cover part of our boots and ankles to keep rocks out.

We does anyone know if they make water proof ones that go up to or close to the knee?

I hate putting rain gear on when working but am tired of wet shoes, soxs and jeans up to the knees.

Any ideas?

Sure man, have you tried standing in a shopping cart.

Looking in the hunting department or look at Pro-Bass shops online, you'll find something to keep the snakes from biting though your pants legs, they go up to bout your knee's,come in several different makes, yel waterproof too.

I wear Gore tex boots, but I don't do concrete, so my feet don't get so wet, unless there are puddles.
Rule of thumb, the uglier the boots, the longer they will last. At least that is my experience.

Ron I ain't going stepping deep into those puddles Scott avoids yet without trying steps in.

Long Johns, heck I get quite warm working but wet too, need to keep dry.

I shall hunt up bass fishing stores online Bigboy, don't know any out this way, sure we have sporting goods but those chains most likely would not have that specialty stuff.

Dominic, are you referring to places like Big 5, Kmart and Walmart sports dept.?

We have a "Work Boot Barn" here and I shall go there too.

Did Scott say UGLY is better, ah well, so Bigboy was right, that is why his picture never gets posted. Should have known that was the reason :D

And I thought I was the only one that had that problem. My feet and toes are usually stained brown where the boot gets wet and the stain runs down through my socks. I have been wearing Rockports because they are light and waterproof If you keep them rubbed down with that boot wax that I can't remember the name of. I bought water boots, but can't remember to put them on untill it's too late.

Jon,
I was thinking of your bigger sporting good stores like Gart Brothers and Galens. Heak take a look at Cabela's. They have an online store for you to shop at. Do you have any rock Climbing stores around your area? Look there too. May be wal-mart and those places , but I don't think they will have them. But its worth a try.:D

Jon,

That's not a dumb question at all. I have the same problem myself. Not so bad in the summertime but now that there is a chill in the air...brrrr!

Let us know how you make out.

I have found just the thing for those WET FEET!!!!!!!!!!!

To all of you folks tired of wet wrinkly feet. I have found the most perfect foot wear that you could imagine. Go to a Scuba Dive shop and get the neoprene booties that scuba divers wear when they go down into deep water. ( I also buy the 4 mil. Neoprene gloves as well) I wear the neoprene booties instead of socks and then put on my cloth lined rubber boots, I then tuck my jeans into the top of those knee high boots. I can promise you my feet are warm and dry.

Then I wear Carhart or Berco Wear insulated coveralls over the top of my clothes in the winter or uninsulated coveralls in the summer. I stay warm dry and CLEAN. When I come home after washing some oil field equipment, most people would swear I had never been washing dirty equipment with high pressure water. WELL EXCEPT FOR THAT BOZO THE CLOWN HAIR DEW, I GET AFTER WATER, WIND and SWEAT TAKE THEIR TOLL.
Hope that helps guys. and gals ;)

Best Regards,

My guys like the neoprene waders, then they wear whatever kind of boot they want over the foot of them. I like the idea of the diving boots and gloves, good thinking :)

there are basically 2 kinds of Gaiters. Downhill skiers use a type that looks like a tube, elastic on both ends. Those of us who downhill or telemark use a gator that has a hook that goes over the shoe lace, a strap or tie that goes under the boot, a tie at the top of the gator and a zipper on the side or back of the gaiter. You need the latter type of gaitor. Get the Gore-Tex lining. My gaitors are 15 years old, yard sale for $5.00
