Go Diesel

Has anyone had issuses with Vanguard engines. Just blown another connecting rod last week. Only had 2000hrs with regular oil filter changes.

Swaped out the 18hp vanguard with a 10hp single cylinder diesel, had to make minor changes to the set up. Mounted the diesel to a general TS2021 belt driven system directly to the flat bed.

With the new diesel running costs are already down by a third. Expected to improve as the engine breaks in. The performance of the engine is great with little to no hesitation even at 3500psi.

Now here is the kicker, diesel engine cost was $699.00 while a replace ment gasser $1850.00 can.

Going to put her though the paces this week, stay tuned for a long term anayasis. [hello]

Daff,
What kind of diesel? I recently blew a Honda 20 hp, and replaced with a Honda 24 hp. That 24 running a 1021 which is the same as a 2021 runs real nice. I have always believed pw engines were sized to small and the 24 helps to prove that.

It's a low end copy (china) model. It doesn't have a name tag on it. For the cost who can complain, normally the only thing to go on a diesel is the injector pump or injectors. As for washers its not the hp, rather than the tourque which is key. For they are allways under full load when pushing water though the wand.

Made a monster for the tanker truck this spring. Consists of a 3cyl diesel and two belt driven pumps. Satisfies a 2520tip at 2200 psi. This beast can get through the big jobs fast and effecintly. Only one draw back spending so much time filling the 2500gal tank 2-3 times a day.
