Can't say I had fun doing this but it comes with the territory. City of San Francisco made the client get all the gum up. I measured it out over 4,000+ sq.ft. Did this last month and now we are doing it monthly.

Los, how long did that take you? I know out production rates suck for gum covered concrete. I am putting a bid together for 1.7 linear miles of concrete (12' wide) in a business district. I need to get a feel for what she should be shooting for in production. The nice part is this is non-RFP.

The 1st night I was about 2 hours into it and the SFPD came by and shut me down cause someone called about the noise. I started late so I understood where the PD was coming from.

2nd night I figured I put in about 5 hours on it....so maybe a total of 7. It would have been a little quicker but this location is where there is people walking the streets ALL the time. Had everything coned off but still didn't prevent people from walking right in the middle of me washing. Of course they have this "blank stare" on their face as if they didn't see the cones. Naturally you need to stop spraying and let them go by.

3/4 of the people were drunk....LOL. Had one lady puke right on the sidewalk...all she could mumble was something about being sorry!!

Did you have to reclaim ??
steep-hills there must be a challenge. Eh?

Hey Jerry...hows things down in San Diego? I get about 40 miles outside of San Diego every month....need to just keep driving and hook up with ya.

No hills on this job and reclaiming wasn't an issue. I've done a few though where the hills were a problem but fortunately the majority of the jobs were graffiti removal.

Back to the "gum job"...we are doing it monthly and it is a whiz to get through vs. the initial one!!!!

Happy Holidays to ya!!!!

hey carlos, talking about steep hills. What do you do in the situation that a driveway or whatever flat work your doing is sloping towards the house or building.

Gum removal is a nightmare, very difficult to charge properly.. I just charge a lot because often you just can't know.

Calob....in that case where the grade/slops is going towards the blg. there is normally a French drain that goes across the driveway or a drain somewhere near by where the water will eventually go to.

We use Hydrotek Water booms and storm drain covers filled with sand to prevent waste water intrusion.
