Hi Johny,

You'll want to protect anything your not stripping including windows, door frames, trim, and surrounding vegetation. Even more of a concern although is to make sure you have someone on the inside. Log homes leak... hydroxide on the interior of the home can cause you all sorts of problems.

What is it that that taking off and what style of home is it? (chinked?)

Its a d-log home,no chinking, cwf six years old,3 month old on the garage ,already peeling.Whats the best way to protect windows, tape them off with plastic??
One side of the house is all windows and trim that has to be stripped. There is no way i can tape off those odd shape windows.I dont like to think about blasting, but maybe i should on that particular side .
Homeowners are going to be inside,i have explained all the dangers about leaking, they agreed to do it to save money,i am not really sure its a great idea. They will mess up and be my fault. They seem to be good people, that type wont cry if they screw up,hopefully

Hi Johny,

I would use the same restoration process through the entire home whether it be chemically stripping it or cob blasting. The two different processes leave the wood with a different appearance.

If you decide the attack it chemically spray the stripper on liberally and don't start washing until you know the CWF-UV is all dissolved. Then lightly rinse areas prior to washing to rinse most of the chemical from the surface. The waste that makes it inside will be pretty diluted this way and give you more time to clean up. I would tape of all the windows & Trim. The glass typically isn't so much a concern as is the trim. If it's aluminum or paintesd it can discolor it to possibly strip the finish from it. We've had the stripper still get on the trim before even after masking but it will save you alot of headaches.
