I used hd 80 to strip this deck, worked very well.I would like to know what i was stripping for future reference.
Floor looked black, railings light brown, faded places, basicly half gone.
Applied stripper ,that stuff was peeling like dead skind, kind of like any water base finish would.Where ever i didnt let it dwell long enaugh, there were brown spots left, looked like peanut butter smeared on.Scratch with my nail,it was really gummy like were not dissolved,so it cant be water base. After a proper dwell time could almost get it off with water hose.
What is this ??
Owners just moved in,had found a can of thompsons in garage, thats all they new.
Thanks Johny

Unusual Deck treatment

I'll bet it was Thompson's Pro-Seal. It was only marketed for 2 years (Thank Goodness) and it comes off like dead skin, really fills any cracks with hunks of material.

I find one about every month here in Va. Usually a kinda pinkish color, it is a lot like CWF-UV that was major over applied.

Thanks again!

You guys have these little discussions that teach me so much! You other newbies out there listen up.. you'll learn a lot here.
Thanks again guys, I now know what Thompson has to offer both the homeowner, and the professional deck washer.
