I had one of my hoses for a 2000psi machine touch the muffler and burn a hole in it.....do you guys have any recommendations for repairs? I am assuming duck tape won't work.

Thanks in Advance,
John

Most suppliers sell a High Pressure repair kit. You just cut the hose then thread it on.

John,

I've never used one but there are field repair kits for hoses. If you're not going to invest in a new hose and other than the burn, yours is in good condition, that might be the way to go. I know from previous posts alot of people keep one of these kits on the truck for such incidents. Just contact a pressure washer supplier or try a local store that sells/stocks hydraulic hose and fittings. Let me know how it works out.

Cody's right they do make kits and its good to have 1 or 2 in the tool box but it would be best to take it to a farm supply store and have them to press a fitting in it,,its more safer.</f>.

Hey Bigboy

Those repair kits are pretty safe, I've been using them for years and I've only had one blow off & it was my fault. I put a 3kpsi on a 4kpsi hose. The only bummer to these thinse is that they are supposed to be reusable but for me only like one in three are. The often break twist off on their second attempt of application.

Just fo the record.
For field hose repair I keep a circular saw with metal cutting blade to cut the hose (there a bitch to cut otherwise). & a large rachet w/proper socket for attaching the splice. (there tough to run down too.)

i always keep @ least 3-4 repair kits w/me @ all times
and they work great.......except for one thing>>>>>>>>>

it's a pain in the bottom when you are rolling it up on a reel and where you have it spliced it always catches and also makes a bump in the roll......

for all the more a hose cost i just buy a new one i use 200' no couplers ....easy to roll up and looks better............

What field repair kits? never heard about them before, I just take my hose to my local hydraulic hose mart and they cut off the bad part and put it together.

Perhaps what they use is the samething you're talking about, about 8" or 10" long?.

When I spun a leak I simply took off the hose and put another on and kept working. Then took it in for repair.

I know most of you might not be close to a place that can repair them the next day so those kits wwould come in handy.

Now other then buying on the net who carrys them? The guys in Texas or Georgia?

Cody,I agree with you fully,I have used them for awhile before but still the pressed on is a tab safer.
One of the reasons I said best is the extra wt. over the pressed on.See how you are,A mean old boss making employees drag that bulky thing around.I know one powerwasher that puts a short peace of pipe in it and uses hose clamps to hold it on,he said he never had a problem doing that for 2 or 3 years.I called him a dum butt,,,,,but I guess just long as you can peace it back together and it holds you can use anything you want.
I want as less metal showing in my hose as I can get, specially the working end of the hose because the fittings can chip paint or ----------:D

Jon most powerwasher part suppliers have them or can tell where to get them,Ask Mark.</f>
