More Info Of Wash Truck

At this time I allready have the cold water unit in my water truck. Recently I married a 40hp diesel Isuzu to a large general pump. The problem is that there is no room left in the compartment for a hot water unit. The only solution I can think of is to put the hot water unit on top of the tank. I have a stand alone 3000watt generator on the truck now for power for the hot water unit.
To paint a better picture the wash truck is a converted fuel truck with a 11000 litre 4 compartment tank. At the back there is an opening where the pump/moter combo sits.
The other problem is with a hot water unit in the back compartment the ignighters keep melting in the summer months. :burn:
The truck is diesel and the burner needs to be diesel too. Hate running out of fuel near the end of a large job, every thing is fed from the main tank that the truck runs from.
Any info or ideas would be greatly appriciated.

We have always toyed with the idea of building a pressure washing truck using a tanker body, but never came up with a working idea on how and where to install all pumps, burners, chemical tanks and hose reels plus keep it all warm in the winter months while out working. Do you have any pictures of what you have done? I really would be interested in them e-mail efisher.jws@covad.net. Right now we are building them with a PTO to drive the pumps with 4 425-gallon water tanks mounted inside an 18' - 20' box but would love to increase our water capacity.

More Truck Info

At one time I also wanted to run PTO driven pumps. Gave the Idea up after the last price hike in fuel. Right now the price is about $3.50 per gal. US. [lm] Just before I built the diesel pump I was using 13hp honda moters and spending nearly $50.00 per day in fuel, not to mention when hot water was involved. Keep in mind that was not including the truck fuel costs.

Today, the isuzu uses about $30.00 per week in diesel and has paid for its self in only a few months.

Keep in mind when fabricating you need a back up system. Be prepared for lots of break downs untill you figure out all of the growing pains. To be honest the diesel unit took about 2 months to be trouble free. At the time of fabricating I was tired of wet or slipping belts, and constantly adjusting to keep maximum performance.

So I direct drived the wash unit using a love joint. Had to make custom bracketry to bolt to the belhousing and learn how to fine tune the alignment via shims. But now, it would be very easy to duplicte the process. In fact I plan on doing it again with another truck using a older reefer moter.

I think the most important thing to fabrication is the process, if an idea fails just try to tweek the system untill you succeed. It may invole countless hours but the reward is worth it.

As for pictures of the tanker, I have a new process to figure out. How to upload to this site!!!
