Ron...I have taken a lot of pictures before and after but by the time I use all of the film and get them developed two or three weeks go by. A digital camera would be more effective in sending the pictures in a more timely manner to the customer. I think they should be in the mail the next day to get more "bang for your buck".
Here is my favorite pic. if this works?

Well, I nearly forgot what the original post was about.

I am a "newbie" and not yet into commercial. I am giving a fridge magnet to all owners I give estimates too. Also, tacting on a shiney brass name plate to each deck I re-do, realizing that it may not reap benefits for a while, but it does look classey, (homeowners have had no problem with this). Some may say that its not cost worthy, but it is a test for now. And, in my brocures and flyers, I do indicate how much insurance I carry and carry proof of it along with business license.... it has worked for me so far!

This post will probably not even get read, it's so FAR down in the topic. Opinions from anyone will be appreciated, yea or nay.

Now if the rain would just go away!

later, Roy

Roy,

I think most will agree that fridge magnets are a good way to go and well worth the money, you might even give them two, and ask them to pass one along to a friend.

"Insured" in your flyers, - YES - its one of the many benefits you are offering your customers.

I'm not sure what your ultimate goal or expectations are for your brass plates but your right, it sure sounds classy! If for something like a trademark it sounds great, as long as they don't rust out! I know a guy who professionally letters trucks and vans, he says alot of places use dots to separate bullet comments and words, he uses upside down triangles, looks good to. Just his trademark.

If you are using them to advertise, I would watch it closely. Just like any other advertising means, if its not bringing you customers; adjust fire and find something that will. Couldn't say what types of responses you will get, but let us know.

To do marketing correctly you have to hire a marketing person full time. There are many ways to expand your business and alot of them are free.

Hiring someone isn't free drake.

I think low cost stuff works but not often or as well as programs that generate revenue.

I wrote this post 11 years ago. I do things completely different. Sorta funny how things happen over time.

Your right, hiring someone isnt free but can be one of the best investments you can make if you want to grow your business. There are also many things that can be done without a fulltime marketer but growing your business is a fulltime job which leaves little time to do the labor.

Hi Ron...how have you changed your marketing over the past decade? I know the internet is huge now. Would love for this thread to revive.

You are right Ron somethings do not change such as the basics. Probably the biggest difference I have seen is the value of a Yellow Page ad. Today there are more doing internet search for products and services, 10 years ago they used the yellow pages more.

So definitely a website should be part of your marketing program. :)

I googled yellow page ad verses website and got these results:

https://www.google.com/search?q=yellow+page+ad+verses+website&rlz=1C1CHNU_enUS423US423&oq=yellow+page+ad+verses+website&aqs=chrome..69i57j0.11058j0j8&bmbp=1&sourceid=chrome&espvd=215&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8
