If someone started a new organization?

Here is the BOTTOM LINE about this -

EVEN if you could sign up 1/2 of the message board members at $200.00 a pop that would be ONLY $44,400 a year. Realistically - who thinks that many people will spend $200.00? Consider how many newbies are on this board...
Lets face it there is no PRESSURE WASHING FAIRY that is going to go POOF and get a lot of people to join.

IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO IT - DO IT!

...but it is not backed by enough money!
Everyone involved will be waisting their time and at best getting very minimal benefits from their investment.

How long you been in this business?

You just wanted to read a little bit & turn it into a fantasy STORY!

WHERE are you getting that I'm worried about my expenses? I'm worried that who ever trys to start this is gonna fall flat!

OH - NO - I"m sorry!!

STUPID ME - I should have known that Mr Craig Knight is gonna use this as a chance to get a good tax write off so he doesn't have to put out another year of OVER $19,000.00 in taxes.

Yeah? and the point is?????????????
HEY!
I'm coming out of my eighth month in this business - after tallying all that I spent on tooling up this business - I did almost $50,000 this year - unfortunately, under $20,000.00 went into my pocket after expenses. BUT I do not plan to be getting real dirty or wet this year! ...or work for a paycheck.

Not many can lay claim to knocking down about 50 grand the first year.

Ya' know what - instead of trying to scam $200.00 out of people - I made what I did because I helped people MAKE money - NOT take it from them!

That is the difference between me and most!

Guys take it easy. Having an open discussion is one of the ways to learn and get new ideas but getting nasty is never a way to solve anything. Everybody has an opinion and not everyone will agree with certain opinions which is fair enough but to get disrespectful then you start to lose creditability and that would be a shame. Me personally I can see the pro's and cons about this topic that was being discussed so obviously I really can't add anything of value to this except that I will continue to read these post and hopefully learn something.

Wow, some positive reinforcement that’s great. aran kwel your jets, it aint worth it. Craig thanks for your impute on this and carrying the torch.

bigboy, just sit-in back and watchingggggggggggg. How’s it feel man????<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I too can only add, next question I will be more careful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, not really, I will make that mistake one more time. I don’t agree with anyone on this idea. I think it can happen and I think it will. Despite any of the arguing about this subject. I do appreciate the positive e-mails I have received. There is hope that something like this can happen. I doubt also that it will be a volunteer organization. I personally would not want any organizations that had and open charter. I want people to benefit from this organization and make lots of money. I want business people wanting to join not having to beg them. I will figure this out with the ideas of others and this wont be my last post on this subject.

As far as arguing about it, forget it (((( aint worth it.)))))

Hey guys & Gals when I get into a topic PLEASE Don't get hurt feelings!

If everyone was against it - I may have taken the FOR IT side! Yes! There are good points about it also!

FIRST: Let me say I'm Sorry!
A lot of folks may not have been around Italians much. Those who have will know that we LOVE heated debates!
A lot of outsiders think we are arguing when in fact we are just whole heartedly into the topic at hand.
Hey I'm the FIRST BORN of the first generation with the last name of FERRANTINO - SORRY! I'm a true to form Italian!

SECOND: Once in a while I do get a bit high strung - I'm diabetic for about 3 years & these doctors still can't get my sugars regulated.

THIRD: I got into this because I know that it takes a lot to make this type of thing happen & I don't want someones lifestyle to get hurt because it hurts them AND THEIR FAMILY. To me FAMILY is the most important thing in the world!

I tried to do something like that for pedigree pet breeders spent about 2 years on it - I tried to give breeders a FREE PLACE to market their animals ( http://www.pedigree-pet.org ) & ( http://www.pedigree-pet.net ) & ( http://www.pedigree-pet.com ) people don't want to see easy.

I want the best for everyone here. When we stick together - we ALL win!
I have always marched to my own drummer - I am not a follower. Because of that I have been cutting some profitable paths that people could benefit from.

Anyway all - See ya'!

BIGBOY - I tried to pull yer hairs and keep ya' happy! Ya' gotta give me more to work with! *GRIN*

Food for thought and I'm in no way thinking of a food fight........

1.Collection Attorney - Instead of having a legal firm to run down customers who are suffering from momentary checkbook constipation; why not have a legal consultant who could advise operators on the steps that would avoid the situation from the outset?
Get contracts, smoke a peace pipe, dot the i's and cross the ducks in a row, whatever it takes. In the event of a cashflow slowdown, advice could be as valuable as action. Knowing what to expect and how to respond could be enough to get anyone through the initial steps of a legal wrestling match, enough to spook a customer who's just not taking the matter seriously enough to mount a proper fight. With an organization backing the request, questions about procedure, and that legal magic they perform in court, could be presented to a University level law class with possibly acceptable results. Find the BB's that serve up and coming lawyers. Post your question and see what they recommend. Pay a legal team to roll into Dodge when there's trouble and soon enough you're paying them during those pleasant times when everyone is paying cash, BEFORE the job is started.

2.Group Health Insurance - If it's established as a business concern this sounds like something that could be pulled together. I view insurance as necessary 'cause of the legality of things but still see it as extortion when I pay and nothing happens to make it necessary. Show me how to save money and I'll get interested in a heart-beat.

3.Group Marketing Campaign - Since anyone with the proper intentions would be welcome to join this business/co-op/organization, including the competitors of already standing Members, an organized marketing campaign would have to promote the need for powerwashing as a whole and then educate the prospective customers as to the requirements for a properly performed job, requirements that would reflect the values covered in the Certification classes and what's known by the accepted "professionals" in the field.
I see web sites like this one that share the information with the consumers. Not the treasured trade secrets but enough information that they can feel confident they hired a qualified crew when the next door neighbor asks "How much are these people charging you?". I see a nationally distributed pamphlet that presents the ideas and ideals that will convince the prospect to hire a pressure washer and hope they remember who handed them that pamphlet. A central location could distribute these in inexpensive packets of 25 and they could be ordered through the mail or email. Ads could be run in trade journals, templates for mailed ads could be developed and made available online to Members.
The Organization would promote the Trade. In time, participation in the Organization would provide the authenticity that would bring a business a greater volume of trade.

4.Buying Power - Obviously it's going to cost you less $$/gallon when you buy a tanker of something compared to buying it by the bucket. Order a boxcar of something; it's less per unit than buying a pickup load. Solve the distribution and accounting dilema with this aspect and you'll have a tiger by the tail. Maybe the local outlet, though they'll lose the inflated profits of dealing with individuals rather than an Organization, would get corporate credit for delivering a volume of products through a drop shipment program. The local pressure washer shows up with a paid-in-full voucher and they signal for the forklift. Big Brother gets his taste and the local outlet finds itself moving three times the volume it used to move. Don't tell anyone though, if the competition gets wind of this........

5.Educational Programs - Great idea. These boards show that there's a desire for information, there are people out there that want to do the job right. Video tapes, CD's, web sites, question and response Email testing, regional meetings run by Members who understand the ropes and have the time/ability to explain it to an eager audience. There are so many avenues available the only problem would be chosing a medium and agreeing upon a curriculum. Don't tell the competition anything though. You know what THAT could lead to.

6.Certification Classes - Once a standard is established, the values could be used as the basis for the Educational Programs and free information web sites. If that standard has already been established, adopt it and use it. There would have to be a governing board or some arm of Government overseeing the testing and certification process.

7.Equipment Manuals - Maybe someone could set up a site, get a list of all the popular equipment that's in use, decide what's common and have a blanket page for that information. Potential problems for different equipment designs could be set up in a searchable FAQ, perhaps with visitors able to share their experiences, which could then be included in the FAQ menu. Everything would be accessable and you could print anything you needed from the files.

8.National Account Recognition - When the Organization takes form it will develop a reputation and will receive due recognition. Building a business takes time, word of mouth advertising and a good track record will bring you recognition and acceptance. The same principle will hold true with this venture as well.

"If you build it, they will come" says it perfectly.
If you listen to the nay-sayers at the outset, you're doomed. If you discount any statement that goes against the grain you'll maybe miss something that could have prevented a problem somewhere down the road. I used to own a van that had power everything and it was way nice. I now run a truck with a crank window that often doesn't run smoothly. Just the same, I can do without the luxury. Look at what you want, what you wish for, what you might be able to get and what you NEED. Design this with the dream in mind but be prepared to settle for less than you wish it could be. Be also prepared to settle for no less than you NEED.

Well, I've got some calls to make and I've run this lunch break a little long. I'll catch ya's around the corner later. Take it easy.

Dave

Cody,
The idyllic version of the proposed dream would take capital that would only be available after the proposed Organization was well established.

The NEED version could be done way less expensively. The powers that wanna bewould have to decide what the bones would consist of and then build from there. If the bare bones structure amounted to an INSANE expense, to be shared by the initial roster of Members, it would receive a reception that'd be about as dry as a popcorn fart and it would drop of it's own merit.

Personally, I'm a window guy with a partner who's convinced me to expand into some light weight pressure washing. If this venture grows legs, the proposed Organization I mean, reaching a point where the potential savings and prospecting contacts would make the registration cost feasible, I'd seriously consider becoming involved. Knocking something that's just in it's brainstorming stage, better yet, taking a swipe at the extreme potential in an offered viewpoint, amounts to the same thing as denying someone the opportunity to attempt breaking into a beach-washed treasure box, after they've agreed to share the contents.

Everyone may want to consider pointing out the flaws in theory when someone offers an opinion on this subject and save the hand wringing and oh my stars, it can't possibly be done's until someone has distilled the brainstorm into a workable plan of action. The knee-jerk reaction sounds like someone who sees the expense of building a power generation station as a drawback when all they initially wanted to accomplish was growing a couple of plants on the kitchen windowsill. Once they looked at the problem in the light of day they saw that it wasn't such a big deal after all.
