went to shut down my Vanguard 16 HP and the key switch will not shut off the engine. I 've been choking the engine to death the last few days, something I usually reserve for the computer. The Key switch starts the engine, just won't shut it off. I assume the switch itself is bad. Any thoushts on this problem?

It sounds as tho your kill wire is off, standing facing it,it will be on the right hand side down alittle below the valve cover on the back of the engine,it'll be a black wire

I haven't dug into any ignition switches but if all else fails and if it's starting and running ok, I'd just wire in another switch to open the circuit & kill the engine. You'd just have to make sure that the switch was closed prior to starting. If you decide to do this make sure the new switch will handle the amp draw on your unit.

Thanks Bigboy, you talk kind of funny, but you were right on. I traced the wire to a spade fitting. The terminal was loose. I fixed it by putting a ring terminal on the wire and bolting the wire to the block. Works great now.
