McPlaceplace cleaning?

Hello from Portland! it was 70 here today...hehehe

I've received many requests from the fastfood world for cleaning their inside/outside play structures. These things are FILTHY everywhere! man o' man...

We have 190 degree hot water capability so cleaning isn't really a issue. I'm small so access isn't a big concern...I can crawl well..

Does anyone though here on this board have any information on a color restorer for the faded/worn plastic tubing in these structures..??

We do awning cleaning and use a vinyl sealer and I'm thinking that this may be a possible solution.

Is there anyone out there knowledgeable in this market of hot water pressure washing that can provide some info..??

Much appreciated!

There is actually a machine that cleans the balls. It vaccums them up, and spits out the balls that are damaged. Kind of cool. They have a website but I don't know what it is. I found it accidently on Ask Jeeves looking for info on garbage trucks. I don't know why it came up. The other stuff can probably be cleaned with awning cleaning stuff. My bet is it is the same type of stuff. You might have to do a test patch.

Any statement that I make about equipment, processes or your hair color is my own personal opinion. I usually base it on personal experience. If you disagree with me you are free to reply on both the BBS and by e-mail. If I am totally off base please explain why on the BBS so that we may all know why;)

There was a company that may be the same as the one Scott is talking about "Scrub-O-Sphere" in either California or the Houston area. I saw them in an Entrepreneur magazine a few years back...

While a machine like that sounds like a great idea, the market is disappearing. Around here, most of the McDonalds, etc have removed the balls from the ball pits.........no need to clean them anymore. That sure would be a bummer if I had just gone out and bought a brand new "Scrub-O-Sphere" or whatever.

Anyone done any cleaning of playground equipment for a child care center or the like. They are clean freaks for obvious reasons and was wondering if anyone else had been doing it. As I thought about it the heat at 200 degree plus is a sales pitch to "sanitize" it and keep germs down. Adding the use of bleach or clorine?

Thoughts Please?

Upon researching this area of cleaning, I talked with my local County Health Inspection Office. They said there is no monitoring or compliance requirements for the cleaning of these internal/external playstructures. They called it "a grey area" with no regulations.

I am using a bacteria killing, deoderizer which is also odor free & film free. It is called KC1000 from KC Products. You can get the cleaner from them. They're in Portland, Oregon at 503/287-4608.

I'm cleaning the balls by trapping them in a mesh bag then hitting them with 1000psi 190 degree hot water. I flip the bags around about 3 times n' it gets them cleaned. I also use a wash basin which is plumbed for sanitary sewer disposal.

On another note, many new Playstructures in my area do have the balls as the kids love em'!
