<FONT COLOR="e87400">And my mower won't run! HELP!!!

I have a 16hp Briggs (non vanguard) on my rider it's about a 92 model Yardman. (It's been sittin for 4 months.) I can get it to run but not at full throttle. I bring it up maybe half way and I have to go slow to get it there. If I go all the way it dies out. Is this an accelerator pump problem. I wondered if there may be a pinhole in the diaphram, but I'm not too good with these things so..... Anyone have an idea here.

I thank you, my wife thanks you and my yard thanks you

Try removing the air filter and see if it does better, if so replace the air filter. Sometimes the fuel goes bad or water gets in the fuel. Drain the tank and carb bowl and put fresh gas in it. See if that helps.

I tried that, Removed the Airfilter, replaced the fuel and dropped the bowl. It still cuts out. I checked the plugs their firing but black and wet.

Take out the plugs pour gas in the cylinders and try to start without plugs in (this will wash out the cylinders of oil) stand away or you will get gas all over you. Put the plugs back in and try to start again.

HaHa hahaha ant no way I'm trying to spell it and done throwed gug away

.

Can tell what to ask for,Farm supply stores will have it.
It'll kill everthing but the B.grass, they used to use it to spray B.grass pastures and B.grass hay feilds to keep it clean from weeds and grasses. It does a great job in keeeping the weeds and grasses out of the B.grass.

You could use the downstreamer but I don't,I plumbed a 3/4in. fitting in the bottom of a 55gal. drum and run it though my pump with the engine on idle and one lid off the drum for air hole.

You can also use Roundup in the spring before the B.grass starts to spike though the ground. Before the B.grass starts to spike in the spring you'll have alot of green stuff done growing maybe even need mowing before your B.grass even shows itseft. If you use the Roundup and dat other stuff I cann't spell it will be up in may here before your mowing any grass plus it'll look more even, greener and a heck of alot easier to mow.
I don't like dat wide bladed wild grass dat takes for ever to dry out before you can mow, know the one I'm talking about

.
Stop by the farm supply store and ask, they have different chemicals for different grasses or yawns.

You'll need a calm morn to apply dat other stuff or you'll kill flowers,trees.ect. with the drift or wind changing when spraying up close.
Also if spraying Roundup in the spring becareful it kills on leaf contact,if you have alot of shade you'll also have updrifts so pick a calm day.

The chemicals saves wear and tear on your mower and you,ya can even mow faster

Hey Cody,

Ever heard of the good old fashioned lawn mower, people power??

Oh wait, you said you sit on your mower as it drives around cutting the jungle down, just be careful you don't run over something..

<font color=e87400>Actually JOn , I don't mow the lawn. My lot is a little over the acre when we bought this house several years ago my wife made the mistake of saying "Well if you go buy a riding mower I'll mow". So I went and got a Riding Mower that day. [hbd]

Cody you made my day, so here I am reading this and laughing when my wife says what is so funny.

When she read it she said I won't say a word about cutting the lawn!!

Now I see why you were in such a panic to get it working.
