Need info on roof cleaning

I have a roof that is to be cleaned next monday. I was wondering what should I use on it? This will be my first time cleaning one. I have heard a lot of different methods cleaning wise and a lot of different chem to use on them. If anyone could help me out that would be great!!! Thanks John

Before we can help, we must know what you are cleaning on the roof, the type of roof. That info. is critical path.

Yeah I guess that would help a little. The roof is brown ashpalt shingals. It has a lot of black streeks on it. I was just wondering how to go about cleaning it(what chemicals to use ext) Any help would be great! Thanks John

John,
you can make a mix ( suggested by Owen Cornings) of 2 1/2 gal chlorine, 2 1/2 gal water and 1 cup TSP. Apply it with a down stream injecter (20% non adjustable) let set for about 15 to 30 minutes and wash off with no more than 80 to 100 max psi. Or you can by some ready mix stuff from Lowes or Home Depot. And just remember that mold and mildew can get real slick when wet, so be careful espeacially if its more than 6-12 pitch. Oh ya remember to cover foliage and soak the ground before and after as well as any foliage
