Newbie from Western Canada

Hi,

I am just in the process of choosing my company name and setting up my logo. I live near Vancouver,BC,CANADA and have done a fair bit of research on how successful my new powerwashing business should and could potentially be. It is a great time to start as spring is basically upon us and has been all winter!(if you heard our Olympics were quite mild, but still absolutely amazing!,lol)
I will be starting out at first with a Honda 3.0 gpm / 6 hp powerwasher out of the back of my pickup. If the powerwashing goes the way I hope then next winter I will set a trailer up with the water tank, bolted down new powerwasher (11-13 hp) and 2 hose reels on the rear of the trailer.
I used to have a successful landscaping business in West Vancouver but needed a change and I feel this is it. I will be reading over many posts on here to figure the best way to approach different jobs and what additional things I can do to be successful in my first year. This is a great website,so much information.

Nice To Find someone to talk with.

Hello All, My name is Mark. I started Under Pressure in summer of 1999. I can honestly say it has been such a pleasure to be in this industry. I just found the Power Washing Network and am excited about sharing and growing. I have always felt alone with my line of work. Most of my training has been through washing thousands of houses. I am located in Natick MA. (20 min outside of Boston). Great thing about this area. Everything needs constant cleaning!
Looking forward to the talks.

Hello my fellow contractors. My name is Michael I have been in the home renovation business for over 15 years. My father is a master carpenter by trade and so I learned the trade from a very young age. I use a 3500 psi gas power washer and am now looking to expand my business into the pressure washing and deck refinishing areas. I live in Staten Island, NY and there are alot of dirty houses and old decks so I think there should be some good money to be made in this area. I have been reading through this fourum for a few days now and there is quite a bit of good info in it and some very nice people in here too. I look forward to learning all that I can and to help others by passing on what I learn from both this fourum and my own experiences.

Hello from Baltimore Maryland. I started my own pressure washing business in 1994 and did well for almost 10 years. I made a big mistake in closing shop to pursue other opportunities in the business world that didnt involve getting covered in dirty water, deck sealer, chemicals etc... Well, its been 6 years since I have touched a pressure washing machine and MAN, do I miss it. I spent 10 years in business with nothing more than a small pick up truck, 2 portable cold water commercial machines and it took its toll on me. I am here at this site because I am looking for advice on whats the best trailer rig for my needs as well as a ton of other knowledge from all my peers around the country. I am sure in the past 6 years things have changed. Thanks, bill

Hello from Carroll County Maryland. My name is BP and I am looking to get back into the pressure washing industry, as a sole proprietor again. I started my own small pressure washing business just a few months after graduating from college in 1994 until 2004. I really miss the pressure washing industry. 100% of my business was residential deck, house cleaning all done with a small dodge pick up and (2) 11hp 3.5 gallon per minute cold water portable machines. I think it all just took a toll on me and I burned out. I joined this site because I want to gain advice from guys who have made the transition from residential to both res and commercial as well as find out what would be the best trailer rig , hot and cold water set up would be for me. Thanks

Hello from Central Illinois

Hello everyone....I am super pumped I found this site. It has already been very beneficial. My partner and I just started a company called Central Illinois Cleaning Solutions. We have both left our jobs (Public Accountant and Sales Account Manager) to pursue our passion of living the American dream and becoming our own boss.

Our main focus is power washing everything and everything. We have just gotten our first fleet which consists of 35 trucks once a week. We have just sent a proposal off for another fleet and have a meeting this week for a big grain company. Knock on wood, things seem to be going very well.

Anytips to getting started would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Mike

Some Pressure, serving South Shore Nova Scotia

Hi all, my name is Cameron a full-time and handyman and (increasingly) pressure washer guy... doing mostly small residential projects so far (decking, driveways, paths etc) I love the results I have achieved so far and the positive feedback I have had from clients. I'm looking forward to trawling through all the useful posts on the forum and taking my 'Some Pressure' business to the next level...

Mornin' Everyone,

Newbie here. Just getting started after a year and a half of getting laid off five times. Time to take my destiny into my own hands, and PW'ing looks to be just the ticket. I like one-on-one interaction with customers. I like working outside and with my hands. Been in various categories of construction work since I was a youngin' (which was a loooong time ago!), and I'm a self-sufficient kind of guy who is just beat down from begging people for a job.

I've been reading here and on other boards for the last month or so as I gathered supplies and equipment to get started with. I've got advertising coming out this week in two papers and should be getting some door-hangers in today or tomorrow. Will be targeting neighborhoods by the end of the week, hopefully having a job or two per day to do by next week or the week after that. I know that might be optimistic, but that's really the point! [bb]

Wish me luck. See y'all around.

Hello all,

Newish to the pressure washing scene but I am hear to gather more knowledge and be able to ask questions. I started back in Jan 2010 as a side business because I have full time job now. My wife will be going to school full time so I will lose an income and starting a pressure washing business seemed like a solution to the problem. I have always wanted to start a business and this seems like the ticket.

I am looking forward to making this more than extra income and I am ready to take the plunge!

House mix recipe help

Reggie >> welcome to the PWN .as far as your question type it in "just Fleets" This is just an Introduction forum. Post away!!

Welcome Celeste To the PWN. I hope you enjoy your stay :)

[wsmile]Hey guys, jusr wondering what you think of my mix ratio.I am using a soft wash system-AllFlo pump, direct application of chems, and my mix consists of 28 ounces of a well known house wash powder, 16 ounces of a really good gutter cleaner,10 gallons of 12.5% SH, and 50 gallons of water. This is mixed and applied directly -no dilution. I want your opinion on whether or not I could use less SH, or is this a good ratio? So far the results are super, with dwell time of about 7 minutes before rinse. Thanks for your opinions .

Hello all

I have been pressure washing for another company for about 5 years now. At the beginning of this year I left that company and started out on my own. Its been a rough start but I'm determined to get there. Start up has been a bear with buying the equipment and learning the marketing stuff. All ideas will be much welcome.
