Tim, your trailer setup is awesome, I'd love to get things as nicely setup as yours. Some very good ideas.
My trailer is a 6x12 Cargo Pro. It's got double doors in the rear. I was concerned that there could be times when parking may be tight and not have enough room to comfortably lower use a ramp.
I custom ordered the trailer and I had the floor joists moved in to 16" on center instead of the standard 24, for added floor strength. Factory installed D-rings in the floor are sweet too.
I also bought several cans of aerosol undercoating, and sprayed the underside of the whole trailer. I figured it wouldn't hurt.
I realized today that one roof vent is not enough, and I'll have to add another one. It got pretty hot inside after running for about 20 minutes, even with the back and side doors open. And today was 55 degrees, I can't imagine how hot it will be at 95 degrees. Should I be concerned, and work on an active cooling solution? Right now I'm kind of nervous about running everything unattended, inside the trailer.
The new machine is such a beast compared to my other washers, it's a lot to get used to. Today I bought two nice sized fire extinguishers to have on hand, incase of an emergency fire situation. I mounted one on the inside of the rear doors, and the second one goes in the truck. I hope and pray that I never have to use them.
I like the hard rubber flooring idea, but I have to be able to slide my skid out if need be. I don't have a cherry picker to lift it out. I have access to a forklift, and would have to drag the skid out with a tow strap. Then when it is close enough to the back door do get the blades under, I can lift is out with the forklift. There might be a problem trying to slide over the rubber flooring. My rig is also over 700 pounds, like a hernia waiting to happen.
The washer is too wide to come out the side door.
This rig compliments my other setup, which is a 5x8 enclosed, with two cold water 4 gpm, 3200 psi units. It also houses all my staining equipment.
For now, I'm going to keep each rig separate for certain types of jobs. But I think I'm going to get spoiled on the 5gpm cleaning power, which really is noticable from the 4gpm.
I'm still doing the day job, for about two or three more weeks, and then I'm going transition to full time pressure washing. I'm working on getting a few more contracts signed before I commit to full time. I just landed a small fleet of 15' cube vans to be washed twice a month. If I can get a couple more things going, I will have more confidence to just do it.
I'm fortunate in that I have four really good part time helpers. They each want to work about 15-20 hours per week, and having good, dependable help, is a positive. I can usually schedule things pretty tight, because there are few times when I'm forced to work alone. Ideally, I'd like to be able to have at least one full time worker, someone else who can lead another crew, beside myself.
I would have much prefered a cube van setup over the trailer, but I couldn't find what I'd hoped for in my price range. I'm sure that after hauling a trailer around full time, day after day, I will get sick of it, and go out and get a cube van at some point. At least when that time comes, I will be more financially stable.
Thanks to all for the suggestions offered. It's going to be fun outfitting the rig, and a lot of work too, that I have to squeeze in somewhere.
