I have heard that the ground thaw's everyday in Feburary. This is great news it means spring is on the way.Just curious if anyone else has ever heard of this. An old farmer told me this years ago,& I never really found any hard proof if he was right or just pulling my leg. This may be a little crazy to post but its -4 & I am about as board as i can get.

Is he the same old farmer that told you if woolly worms has more hair it'll be a cold winter,if he is he could be right.

I don't like the slow thaw of spring, when it starts to thaw just a little you slip and slide when washing on gravel and dirt.

I'm going to vote yes b/c the days are getting longer, more daylight.

all I can say is I am also Vice President of a Masonry Company and the ground here does not thaw everyday in February. The temps are predicted to begin to rise this week but yesterday the gound didn't thaw one bit. Our backhoe operator last reported that the ground was frozen down to around 18" on last report

My vote is yes the ground will thaw a little each day Starting in Feb. untill all the ground is done. I belive that is how them hybernaten bugs wake up to do their bug thing.

Welcome to the board Stan,I got the picture off the net,I thought they were bug eyed carp.

Dan why didn't you stop up the groundhogs hole and wait until the sun is out before you let him out.Guess thats a big deal watching him come out of his hole but here we have critter hunters,he wouldn't have a change to see his shadow.

Its raining here, snow thursday,in the 40's tuesday and wednesday.I've had cabin fever so long I think I'll take tuesday and wednesday off to go fishing in the sun shine.

We'll go though thaw and freeze all month, seen a skeeter this morning, spring is coming.

When we get tired setting in the house with the old lady we go out to the barn.

This is Jason's Wife Shelly....All I have to say is I'm so glad I found this site to keep him going! I wish he could come to your homes and keep YOU company on these cold winter days. We're tired of entertaining him. Even the kids are asking to stay allnight with my sister to get away from us! haha
