Some contractors around here (Delaware) are using Cuprinol from Sherwin Williams or their wood siding stains that range from mid 20's to mid 30's per gallon. A contractor that does log home restoration along with cedar siding told me it's all he's used. I used it on 2 log homes myself and experienced excellent results and after 2 years the first one shows no signs of premature wear or failure. Just my 2 cents but here its hard to sell a product that costs the contractor between 60 and 80 dollars per gallon. When you tell a customer it's 1,600.00 dollars just for stain they have a cow, not to mention stripper and brigtener and the all exspensive labor. Here in Sussex county DE folks will let one rot down before they spend that kind of money or just plain paint it. Im doing a bid now for a 2500 square foot log home complete restoration and bidding it with Cuprinol gonna be somewhere around 3,100.00 - 3,500.00.

Dan I can't answer that yet from experience, like I say its been 2 years and its still holding really nice. I think it has a good bit of UV protection and the mildew hasn't adhered yet. It is a little dirty I may contact them and see if they would like to have it cleaned just with a mild detergent and warm water. Mostly just cob webs and dust from a nearby farm road.

Justin, I just opened up an account @ sherwin williams..Boy is that going to be nice.hey I want that, that , and that .... CHARGE IT MAN !!lol ........ They also have a great concrete paint 1 kit is 100.00 but it will do 650 sq' . Im doing a job next week ... strip old paint off floor and putting the "good" stuff on.

Im getting ready to do one of my 3 log-homes I got from that Home Show in FEb. Im really considering Cuprinol instead of Sikkens. They also gave me a gal ....... I stuck it on my sons cabin (tree-house)... seems to be maybe my choice of stains this year.

never heard of Rymar.....wonder how it compares to Cuprinol or Sikkens. Whats the web site/ phone #.. and how x-pensive did you say it was? Cant be as bad as Sikkens.

almost all my decks and log/and cedar homes want it light.

Hey Rick ,
It's called Armorseal 1000HS
It's a two gal kit. mix the two together and it only has a shelf life of 4-hours ................ below is what is on the sheet..

* For Industrial, commercial, or marine applications where a heavy duty epoxy is required.
* Superior resistance to chemicals, moisture, abrasion, and impact.
* Meets ADA requirements for slip resistance for floors.
* Excellent resistance to alkalies, dilute acids, spilage of solvnts, chemicals, jet fuel, grease, etc.
* clear finish for interior use only .

50.00 per gal you need two gal for the kit...... 600-650 sq' per gal.

Thanks for the information and reply Dan. How did you apply it? Brush, roller or spray? I am considering doing my garage floor.
